I took a belly dance class at the newly opened World Rhythms studio on Sunday morning. I have danced seriously for about 4 years, so I have some experience. And I absolutely loved the teacher and the studio. Absolutely top drawer all around. They do have a schedule printed up and available at the studio though not up on the website yet.

If you were thinking about it, they are well worth checking out. And definitely (IMO, obviously) a great addition to the neighborhood!

On Thursday, September 17th, starting at 5:30pm, Cambridge Community Television will host its 12th Annual Backyard BBQ Fundraiser to benefit its summer and after-school youth media programs for teens. The BBQ promises to be a festive evening: Chefs from numerous Cambridge and Somerville restaurants will prepare a diverse array of food – from ribs to vegetarian fare to drinks and desserts; award winning local Afro-beat/soul band Zili Misik will provide the entertainment for the evening, and a silent auction will take place, featuring a variety of exclusive items. Finally, the leading role awards ceremony will honor three individuals who have dedicated their careers to social change: Robert Bridgeman for his work with mentoring programs; Sue Hyde, LGBT rights activist, and George Metzger, President of HMFH Architects. Tickets are $45 for adults, $20 for seniors, and $18 for children under 12 years, with all proceeds benefiting CCTV's Youth Media Program. The rain date for this event is September 24th. For tickets and more information, visit www.cctvcambridge.org/bbq

More about CCTV’s Youth Media Program: CCTV’s Youth Media Program teaches Cambridge teens media production and career skills, while providing the equipment, facilities and support for them to make media of their own. For every $1,500 raised, CCTV will be able to support another teen in its summer and after-school programs. Students in the program have gone on to study media at prestigious institutions such as Emerson College and New York University, have received awards for their work, and have had work featured in film and media festivals, including the Boston International Film Festival.

Hope to see you there!

I'm going camping this week and would love some sourdough starter for bread while I'm in the rough. I'd love to trade for homemade eclairs, crepes, or dollars. Any takers? Do reply.
