It's Jehoween!

Well, I don't rightly know if they're Jehovah's Witnesses precisely, but there are teams of proselytizers working their way down Ossipee Rd. right now. And just minutes ago, a friend of mine in the Netherlands got some JWs at his door, so I'm assuming this is some special door-to-door day. (Someone else snarked that it's Jehoween, when JWs dress up in fancy clothes and go door to door asking for Easter candy.) Anyway, anybody know if that's just a coincidence, or if this is part of some Holy Days thing?

EDIT: Yup, it's a pre-Easter Jehovah's Witness thing. They made another pass and I confirmed that they were doing a coordinated campaign.

Bob Slate in Porter Square - everything is 50% off

Bob Slate's Porter Square store, at 1975 Mass. Ave., is selling everything for 50% off.

The people there aren't sure how many days or weeks they will still be open, so I suggest shopping soon.

The two Harvard Square stores have already closed, and I assume that any remaining unsold merchandise from those stores is now at the Porter Square store.

Now that the weather is finally becoming pleasant for walking and biking around town, you may be interested in my Google Map of stairways, ramps, shortcuts, and pedestrian paths in and near Somerville. Since Google Map URLs are quite long, I gave it a shorter one that's easy to remember:

The map started modestly last spring with a few stairways on Winter Hill; with help from DSLJ readers and others, it has now grown to 122 marked places.
