In the heart of Davis Square, at the intersection of College Ave. and Holland St.

Come pick from hundreds of healthy perennials for sun and shade, as well as shrubs, herbs and groundcovers, ready for a new home in your garden. Also, enjoy the wide variety of house plants for your living room or kitchen windowsill. Plants range from dependable "old favorites' to connoisseur specimens, all reasonably priced. Gardening books, tools, and outdoor accessories will also be for sale.

Proceeds from the sale support the monthly programs and public plantings sponsored by the nonprofit Somerville Garden Club. Current projects include the gardens at the Central Library, West Branch Library, Somerville Museum, and Powderhouse Rotary. Monthly meetings, free and open to all, feature lectures or presentations on a wide variety of horticulture-related topics. For more information, please visit http://somervillegardenclub.org

I got the official email today:

All Good Things Must End

It's with heavy hearts that we must say:

Gargoyles on the Square will be closing its doors after business hours on Tuesday, September 20th, 2011, as it is time for the Conforti family to move on.

We have had a terrific run thanks to wonderful, dedicated staff members and all our loyal customers over the years.
You are all considered a part of the "Gargoyles Family" and we will miss you all.

Thanks for the memories!
James, Pat and John

Gargoyles was one of my favorite restaurants, with the crazy food and the fun waitstaff. I'll really miss them.

An e-mail I just got:

Hello, this is Jackie Rossetti from the City of Somerville with important information regarding road work in your area. In order to complete safety upgrades on street infrastructure along Elm, Chester, and Orchard Streets, street closures and parking restrictions will apply next week.

Beginning on Sunday, September 18th at 8 a.m. and last through Monday, September 19th, Elm Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic to allow City crews to conduct necessary infrastructure and crosswalk repair along the corridor. Detours and police details will be in place, including the conversion of Highland Avenue to a two-way street beginning in Davis Square for the duration of this work. The municipal parking lot on Day Street will remain open to vehicles.

Milling work will begin on Chester and Orchard Streets on Wednesday and Thursday of next week, and you will be notified when specific times have been finalized.

If you have any questions, please contact 311. Thank you for your assistance during this important infrastructure improvement program.
