It's not too late to join the volunteer crew at What the Fluff? A Tribute to Union Square Invention on Saturday. Volunteers are needed for two-hour shifts helping with kids' games, our unique stage shows, or at the infamous Fluffy's on the Square. Please contact Karin at volunteer@unionsquaremain.org if you can join us. Thanks!

If you are interested in attending, it's from 3-7 PM in Union Square, and it's the most original and wacky festival around. There's nothing like it!

A friend visited us last week and got a $50 parking ticket for not displaying updated registration stickers on his car. After waiting on hold and finally talking to a person, it turns out that the DMV was accidentally mailing registrations without including the stickers. So even though he is up to date on registration, he got the ticket because of their mistake.

Not to worry though! He can appeal it by going to court. Good thing he doesn't have other things to do with his time.

The junkshop that has long been between Stinky's and the Paramount Bike Shop in Ball Square is empty. Anybody know if there are plans for the space?

De-lurking and signing up for an LJ account so I can put this out to the community.

I'm moving in with my girlfriend in December and, for a variety of reasons too complicated to go into here, I need to find a new home for my beloved cat (shown in my profile pic). I'm heartbroken about this but it is the only solution.

My cat is 10 years old and full of love. She's also huge - between 22 and 24 pounds. Because of this, she's on a special food to address kidney issues - without it, she's prone to UTIs. Other than that, she is healthy (no diabetes and blood work is almost always normal) and happy.

All of my friends in the area either have cats or allergies, and because she is a "special needs" cat, I'm loath to bring her to a shelter. I'm wondering if anyone out there is a) interested in adopting her or b) aware of any good organizations that might help me place her in a loving home.

If you're interested in adopting: it's important that she is the only cat in the household (she has gotten on well with dogs in the past) and remains indoors.

Thanks!
