An official City of Somerville sign in the window of 263 Elm Street, the former Mass. Insurance Agency, announces a public hearing for October 17 on an application by 'NE Frog Pond LLC' to establish a frozen yogurt parlor.

In Boston, Cambridge, and other parts of New England, this company operates Pinkberry franchises, so that's likely what they're proposing here too.

If the zoning board approves the special permit, this will be the third frozen yogurt shop in Davis Square, after iYO and Orange Leaf. Or maybe even the fourth, since JP Licks sells some frozen yogurt too.

and it is HUGE. I went in the other day on their soft opening (today is the big day), and it was really big and no one knew where anything was. You can find pipecleaners in 6 places there. The store is divided into two sections; a large craft side and a very focused art supply and framing side. For accessibility there remains the elevator near the Shaw's, and they have added escalators near the entrance by the TAGS.

But if you go today they have some grand opening sales, and you can also get 50% off one regular priced item with coupons here: http://weeklyad.michaels.com/stores/8719/coupons

Hi! I am a social work grad student (and new resident to Davis!). I'm currently working a community analysis of Davis Square and am interested in speaking with residents to learn more about the current issues in the neighborhood. Please comment if you're interested. I would love to meet for coffee or a drink.

Thank you!

ETA: Taken! Thanks.

We just got a new mattress and will be getting rid of our old one. It was a super high-end dual-pillowtop innerspring when new (in 2000) but isn't quite as awesome as it once was. It did come with a 20-year warranty, but Big John's went and closed so that's no longer relevant. Still has life, in any case, but we got ourselves some memory foam. If anyone can use the mattress for whatever purpose, I'd just as soon not see it get trashed (except it is pretty cool watching the garbage truck eat a mattress). I'm guessing no charitable sort of places want mattresses these days with all the bedbugs around (we have none).

Pickup close to Davis Square. Will go to the curb Tuesday night if not claimed.
