ETA 4/22: World of Beer has withdrawn its application for a liquor license, so there is no need to attend this hearing unless you want to support or oppose one of the other applicants.

I'll leave the earlier post intact here for future reference.

More from Ward 6 Alderman Rebekah Gewirtz:

World of Beer is going to try to seek a liquor license this coming Monday night, 4/22 at 6pm at the Tufts Administration Building at 167 Holland St. See item #22 on this agenda: http://www.somervillema.gov/sites/default/files/agendas/04-22-2013.pdf

This liquor license hearing is open to the public and I encourage you to attend to express your point of view on this establishment entering Davis Square. I have deep concerns that they are trying to move forward with a license when there was clearly a lot of concern from the community at the meeting and I have expressed our deep reservations to the applicant and their attorney.

I have a conflicting meeting on Monday night at city hall that I am chairing on the Styrofoam ban at 6pm. I am going to try to be at both but I'm not sure yet how I will do this. I have emailed the clerk of the liquor license commission and asked that this application be continued so there is more time for community process. Again, I would encourage attendance at this liquor license meeting on Monday night.

Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to talk about this further.

Best wishes and please stay safe,

Rebekah Gewirtz

I found a key with a tag on the ground. The name on the tag is something close to "Margaret Winchester." If you can help me locate the owner (and prove good-personhood by correcting my deliberate mistake), it'll be a mitzvah!

apparently because our yard is near an intersection, people have chosen to make it a dumping ground for random stuff. I'm betting someone wants this particular stuff back: a ring of (now rather dirty and damp) shopper's cards with 15 cards, one of which is a Costco gold star member's card. send me a message identifying a reasonable number of the others to verify it's yours.

EDIT: owner found!

This week's tragic events have caused some disruptions to the Cambridge Science Festival, including to two Somerville-connected events that had been scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.

Post-Meridian Radio Players have cancelled tomorrow's Sci-Fi Double Feature, which was to have a final performance at the MIT Museum. The producers feel that the content of 'THEM!' is inappropriate to perform again at this time.

Artisan's Asylum have postponed tomorrow's scheduled Battlebot Contest, because yesterday's lockdown closed the Asylum and interrupted the teams' robot construction projects. The event will now take place on Wednesday, April 24, from 6 to 9:30 pm, at the Armory, 191 Highland Ave.

Hi -- I just saw an aging boxer wandering down Summer St. about 45 minutes ago. She (?) had pink heart-shaped tags but I couldn't get her to come close enough to read them. She seemed friendly but anxious/shy. I say "aging" because she had a graying muzzle. She trotted away down Summer St. and then hooked a right on Cedar St., so, heading up towards Highland Ave.

I've entered this info in the City of Somerville Lost/Found Pets page as well. Hope she finds her people! :(

Well, not quite. But we *are* running summer camp.

It was touch and go for awhile, but we have officially signed a lease and will be staying in Somerville at least through September 15.

If you know of kids want to spend their summer taking apart bicycles, learning to program, making boffer swords, and motorizing everything in sight, look no further! We'll be doing all this and more at 577 Somerville Ave, July 1 through August 31. Registration and details at www.partsandcrafts.org.

In the meantime, if you want to help sweep, donate furniture, or head over to Conway Park for ad hoc games of capture the flag, email us at contact@partsandcrafts.org. We'll be in the space full-time-ish starting May 1. Hope to see you all there!
