At last Wednesday's Davis Square Farmers' Market, Enterprise Farm had signs up saying that they will not be participating in the Somerville Winter Farmers' Market this year.

When I asked why, they told me that the winter market management no longer allows Enterprise to import produce from outside Massachusetts (or maybe from outside New England - I'm not sure). In past years, many of Enterprise's offerings have come from family farms in more southern latitudes, including Florida. Without these, Enterprise doesn't have enough of its own produce to sell to make the winter market worthwhile.

If you disagree with this decision, I suggest e-mailing the winter market manager, SomWinterMarket@gmail.com . I am concerned that the overall market could be less successful, and less popular, without Enterprise.

This week's Zoning Board of Appeals agenda includes a notice that Flatbread and Sacco's Bowl Haven are withdrawing their proposal to add more seats and 7 more bowling lanes in the former Ideal Engine garage building next door.

The proposal has been on the ZBA agenda since June, but has been repeatedly postponed by request of the applicant. I don't know what has caused all of the postponements, and now this withdrawal. I'm disappointed, since this would have improved our neighborhood and creatively reused a large empty building. To my knowledge, the neighborhood has supported the proposal.

If anyone knows more, please post a comment here. In an e-mail to me, Alderman Rebekah Gewirtz alluded to some issues involving the property owner's family, but she did not know any details.

Amelia's in Teele Sq was closed and under renovations, and I have noticed the space looking more and more like a new restaurant as I pass by. It sounds like it's a name change but the same management, according to Eater Boston, and they say it is actually open now, with an Italian menu as before (I didn't check.)

Anyone check it out? I loved Amelia's when it first opened, er, 17 years ago according to that blurb, but lately it had fallen off my list of places worth getting back to.
