If you missed the Illuminations Trolley Tour and Bicycle Tour last Sunday, but still want to see Somerville's holiday lights, take your own tour with these maps:

Illuminations Bicycle Tour - shorter 2013 and 2012 route will take less than an hour

Illuminations Bicycle Tour - longer 2011 and 2010 route more closely approximates the (East) trolley tour route

You can buy a trolley tour map for $3 at Magpie in Davis Square or Blue Cloud Gallery in Ball Square. Proceeds go to the Somerville Arts Council.

Please add comments with your favorite local light displays, especially if they aren't on these maps. I especially recommend taking a walk up Grove Street between Rite Aid and Morrison Ave.

I have a 2BR 2Bath 2 parking spots deleaded 1100 sq ft freestanding house for rent on a temporary basis available Jan 1st for 1-4, maybe 5 months max.

If you are looking for or know someone who is looking for temporary housing while they move away form or move to the area, or for some other reason wants something temporary, please PM me or respond via craigslist below.   It can be hard to find anything other than a 1 year lease.   I'm going to be building an addition on it, and I'm looking for temporary tenants to rent it until the weather warms up.

It is in East Somerville near Twin City Plaza/Union Square, not Davis Square, but thought it might be relevant to some people who read here.

Craigslist posting with more info: http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/sub/4250690059.html

The Post Meridian Radio Players, frequently of Davis Square, are putting on a show in the distant land of Arlington! Come see the Big Broadcast of 1962 (A Byfar Christmas Carol), at the Regent Theatre in Arlington Center. Shows Thursday night (tonight), Friday night, and Saturday night at 8pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2pm.

The Big Broadcast series is an homage to the golden age of radio, with actors playing old time radio actors, running around frantically, having technical problems, and wrangling guests. It's fun and funny, and I'm looking forward to another wonderful show in the tradition of the Big Broadcast of 1938 (The War of the Worlds) at the Somerville Theatre in 2009.

You can still get discount tickets at:
https://www.goldstar.com/events/arlington-ma/the-big-broadcast-of-1962
...but if you get them there, I urge you to post an honest review after you see the show -- some Goldstar buzz will bring in a bigger audience for the remaining shows.

Regular tickets and more info at:

Hi all,

Apologies for the extra post - this is only the 2nd time in 17 years that we've had any weather doubts for the Ciclismo Classico Jingle Ride, but the forecast for Sunday's ride veers wildly between 68 degrees (!!!) to 45 and pouring. We really want to have the ride and raise the funds for Horizons for Homeless Children - but actively crappy weather will cancel the ride.

So - long story short - if you are interested in the Jingle Ride and want to know if it's definitely happening, we're making the call early Sunday morning. Please check http://www.ciclismoclassico.com anytime after 7:30 AM for the full scoop.

And one more note if you go - we've added another fun stop to the ride. In addition to the cookies-and-cocoa stop in Harvard Square, the kind folks at the Asgard in Central Square have offered a free beer to our Jingle Ride crew on our way back from Boston. A perfect place to relax, if the weather cooperates! Don't forget your lock (and maybe some fenders too!) if you will be joining us!

Jingle on and hope for sun,
Karin T

PS: more details about the ride are at http://www.ciclismoclassico.com/jingle-ride-2013
