Folks,
My main job has mostly gone away because of the cold (teaching bicycle riding) so I am open to doing whatever people need for a few months: baby sitting, elder care, errands, transcribing, sewing and mending.

Somerville snow emergency ends 6:30 pm, move cars by 8:30 pm

I just got a robo-call and email saying that the Somerville snow emergency ends at 6:30 pm. If you've parked in a city or school lot, you need to move your car out of it by 8:30 pm so that the lot can be plowed.

Also, "property owners have six daylight hours following the lifting of a snow emergency in which to clear snow and ice from sidewalks" -- which means by about 1 pm tomorrow.

There's been a population explosion of rats around Davis Square, and if your landlord is anything like mine, they'll ignore your pleas to hire a professional exterminator and just start throwing poison around. You don't want your cat eating a poisoned rat.

Help learning ASL?

Hi guys,

Is there anyone (Deaf or hearing) who would be available to help me learn ASL? Unfortunately, all I can really offer in payment is buying you a cup of coffee when we meet, but you'd be able to get the warm fuzzy of indirectly helping someone recover from alcoholism (fingers crossed). I know fingerspelling, counting up to 20 and maybe a dozen or two other words already, and I have some experience having conversations with a Deaf person via an eclectic mix of signing, lipreading, miming, and sheer guesswork.
