This was news to me, so I bet it's news to some of you:
The laundromat on the corner of Broadway and Lowden Ave (whose proper namemay or may not be "Ball Sq. Laundromat" is apparently "Broadway Dry Cleaning") does not show any posted hours, except for the wash'n'fold counter which closes at 7pm on weeknights.
However, I finally made it over there tonight at an hour when I was pretty sure they WOULD be open, and the cheerful Brazilian lady at the wash'n'fold told me that the main storefront is open until 10pm... but there is a back entrance, around the corner on Lowden, to a section of it that is kept open 24 hours. Quarters for the wash: $2 per load (I haven't priced the dryers yet).
Note that I've lived on Lowden Ave. since September and have been continuing all this time to drive back to the LaundroMax on Somerville Ave., where I used to go from my last apartment in Union Sq., just because I liked it well enough and knew it would reliably stay open until at least 11pm. But now -- 24-hour laundromat walking distance from my current place? DSIA.

Date: 2010-05-12 03:08 am (UTC)So there's one marker of civilization finally arrived. Now if only we could get some late-night public transit, all-night restaurants, and maybe even that pinnacle of civilized life as I used to know it in Seattle, an all night bookstore....

Date: 2010-05-12 01:56 pm (UTC)That 24 hour thing is, I think, one of the best kept secrets in the neighborhood. I am not even sure how I happen to know about it.
