too many airplanes

Tonight - Thursday, July 29, I went to Davis Sq. to see the outdoor screening of Vertigo.
During the 2 hour movie, there were at least 40-50 low flying planes overhead. Very difficult to focus on the movie.

Two other evenings this week planes passed over my house at least once every 2 minutes between 4-9pm.

I know they say it's wind dependent, but does anyone know if this is getting more frequent? I think I'll have to move if this is going to be the norm. It's pretty stressful to me and I don't think I can adapt.

I emailed and called in a complaint, but in the past, these haven't really done anything.

My boyfriend's house is on the helicopter flight path for one of the hospitals in Lowell and is right near a park where they stage medevac flights to the Boston hospitals. He also gets various Air National Guard planes flying very low overhead. I notice the noise from all of those more than I notice airplane noise in Somerville, maybe because it's just quieter in Lowell altogether.

Helicopters and military aircraft are also louder than the average PAX plane that flies out of Logan. They may also be flying lower and not in the process of taking off.

Yes, they're much lower than the passenger planes I see over Somerville, even though in the case of the military aircraft, they're headed to bases that are relatively far away.

The base I work at is 17 miles away. The base I drill at is far away, true, but those planes never fly over here and they're among the few that, when they do, you'll never see because they're miles above when they pass. : )

My boyfriend loves that they fly low, because then he can run into the yard and watch. He's an aviation enthusiast/former military and can identify all the planes and knows which bases they're flying out of. I mostly just smile and nod.

LOL! I'm current military. My husband's former military. We both run to the yard to watch too. : )
