I usually think that having a relationship with people who provide intermittent services is a little overrated, but from the moment I first walked in to Skyline Drycleaner in Ball Square (across from the dueling breakfasteries), John made me feel welcome and valued. He knows me by sight, which is not terribly hard, but he knows my husband too.

They are open until 7pm on weekdays and also have a drop off chute. The VIP program is ridiculously easy to join and gets you a drop off bag and monthly billing. I get an emailed receipt when my clothes are processed and another when they are ready. Turnaround time is usually 1 day for normal things.

Men's shirts are $2.25 for laundry and pressing--we can't do them at home for that. All the other prices are reasonable. He has my wedding dress right now. (ETA: and he did a great job with it.)

They advertise pickup and delivery, but I haven't used it.

I would not mention this, but there's a groupon today, and if you haven't already got a regular dry cleaner, maybe this is the one for you. Ball Square, Broadway.

Also the proprietor is incredibly obsessive about getting stains out perfectly and will tell you all kinds of interesting chemistry stuff about how it works.

It is interesting to me that he knows his stuff because I often see a truck parked outside his shop from a drycleaning service in everett which I assume picks up the stuff and does the chemical processing bit for them. (I don't doubt that they can get the clothes clean, I mean, but didn't think it was done on premises/by the people in the shop.)

It seems to be there fairly often at about 9am, when I pass by there on my way back from dropping my daughter off at school. I noticed it because I hadn't realized that dry cleaners did service for other dry cleaners (they don't have the same name) so I was curious if their business mostly consisted of clever service innovations.

I have used a different dry cleaner for 15 years but have no particular interest in disparaging the one in Ball Square, anyway. ;-)

I actually went to high school with his wife and know that they do own at least one other dry cleaners. I've never used their services but I'm happy to hear they are doing so well.

Interesting. I've lived in Ball Square for years and never even noticed there was a drycleaner there.

I agree! The proprietor (John, I guess?) is just fabulous - very friendly, and totally dedicated to doing a great job. I have used them for tailoring, and was completely satisfied. Good prices, too.

P.S. Awww, the Groupon is for new clients only. *pout*

Thanks for posting this! I saw the groupon and wasn't sure about it-- I usually use the dry cleaner's across the street (by Lydell's)... and my experience has been so-so. So, I'm going to try this place out now based on your recommendation. Thanks again!

I sent some shirts there for cleaning and they came back somewhat faded and with some cuff buttons broken. Also, they put me on an email marketing list with no opt-out which is actually illegal.

It's really tough finding a good cleaners, I either go to zoot's (which do a great job but is very pricey) or truck up to Pomp's in Stoneham which is the best and cheapest dry cleaner in the entire universe and worth the drive for me.

I should say the people that run it are very nice however, and I wish them nothing but the best.
