MTA maps covered?
Aug. 26th, 2011 11:47 amDoes anyone know why the T-maps that are on the walls of T-stations (At least Davis, Porter and Harvard) are all covered with white plastic? Likewise, at least the cars I was in yesterday had no full maps on the walls.
Are they preparing to replace the maps with one that includes the hypothetical green-line expansion?

And looking at the map, I see they're using commuter rail right of way... but not extending the branch from Union Square to Porter Square. Wouldn't want to create a convenient loop or anything crazy like that.
As for the maps, maybe some unification of the maps? Station maps vary hilariously not just in style but in what they try to show: green line stop names? Commuter rail? "High-value" bus lines (very rare)?
