You're confusing them with someone who isn't open until 6:30pm. I suppose many of their prospective customers work until 6:30 or later, but then again, I don't think you could name a time that it's not the case that many prospective customers are working.

You have to admit that people are much more likely to be at work at certain times than others. If they were open an hour or two later (or on weekends), people would be much more likely to be able to get there. I'm only able to get there because I'm a teacher so I'm pretty available in the summer, but once the school year starts it'll be pretty hard for me to get to Davis by 6:30.

There's also always your lunch break. Back when I had a job, I used to go to the farmer's market right when it opened at lunch time. Yum, fresh fruit and veggies for lunch!

Anyway, as for 9-5...I dunno; I think that's traditional but I don't think most people do it. Especially in a techie-heavy place like Davis I think most people start later, end later. And I think even people working relatively traditional hours are likely to work a bit later (9-5 isn't an 8-hour day after you've taken that lunch break), and then with traffic and so forth you might not get *home* from that job in time to go to the farmers' market, or if you do they're closing.

agreed. plus i don't work in davis so i can't go during my lunch break. i wish they had it on the weekends!
