Those will destroy good knives. Good knives should be regularly honed (which you can do yourself with a honing steel) and should be sharpened professionally once every few years.
Honing realigns the blade without taking off any material and makes a huge difference and is easy. Sharpening takes off material from the blade and is tricky to do right and doesn't need to be done all that often.
