Sometimes they had really good food. Sometimes it sucked. The service was highly variable, and the coffee was awful. "Fast" was also pretty relative.
I liked that they were organic. When things were properly made, they were really good. The amount of inconsistency there was a very big negative in my opinion. It made me often miss the old Carberry's.
of course, "fast" is relative at mc donalds and burger king, etc. too. so in terms of those types of places (which au naturals was designed to be an organic alternative to), it is still fast food.
i never went to carberry's, so i can't compare. but, i never had bad food at au naturals, either, so i'll trust you on that. but even with inconsistancies, i'd prefer at least one affordable organic to none, you know?
Oh, I just think about how often I've had to wait for someone to come out from the back to take my order, or some other form of being ignored. Which was always a great lead-in to them getting my order (often seriously) wrong (often repeatedly).
When the food was done properly, it was quite good. It's a shame that you couldn't tell when that would be.
Have you tried the sandwiches at Pemberton Farms? They're not too far away, and I believe they're organic, or mostly so.
that stinks ;\ i've been lucky then, though i don't go there all the time or anything.
yeah, that's true, i love pemberton. they're actually closer to me then au naturals. but i do have a bunch of vegan friends at work who are very sad they're closing. they don't have a ton of options.
I also miss Carberry's. Does anyone know why it left? It always seemed very busy whenever I was in there. I went to O'Naturals two or three times, but the service was always very bad and the walls were much too preachy. I can be pretty patient with bad service, but they were exceptionally bad. It's unfortunate, because I really liked the idea of an organic cafe.
