It's so very nice of them to want to try to cut down on the lines at Anna's. So very nice! I always hate waiting in those long lines at Anna's. And look at the stampede of people over at Qdoba in Porter Square! They sure helped Anna's at Porter overcome that pesky lines of happy burrito-eatin' people problem. And Qdoba has an even stupider freakin' name than Boloco.
They may call themselves a burrito place, but it's really a wrap place. I for one would be happy for a quality wrap place in Davis, since the closest thing we have now are the highly mediocre ones at Blue Shirt.
Personally I miss Picante... but is this more of the "chaining" of Davis? (Picante had a couple of other places - so I guess they qualify as a 'chain' - but not like a "brand").
I wonder why more independent places don't end up here (or if they do, endure).
And what keeps that Indian place next to the Farmer's Bounty going? I rarely see anyone in there.
I agree - I miss Picante too. I was kind of hoping Hi-Rise would move into the space. I'm tired of food in wrap form in the square.
Namaskar is the bomb, but I worry about it closing a lot too because it's never that crowded when I'm there. Which is a shame because the food is GREAT and the guys who work there are awesome. I know they are on dining in..I wonder if they get a fair amount of business that way.
I<3 Boloco. Yes they offer burritos but most of them are such are markedly different flavors that I can't see them being serious competition for Anna's. Buffalo chicken burrito = Boloco, carnitas burrito = Anna's.
I always found the acoustics in that space (Carberry/O'Naturals) pretty hard to take- all that cement and glass - but it often seemed crowded so I guess it didn't bother anyone else.
I miss being able to buy halfways decent bread at Carberry's though. Is there any place else in the Sq. to get bread. (do people not eat bread any more??)
Though I didn't spend much time at O'Naturals, I agrees with you Boloco account. Mediocre at best. But hey, it seems like a lot of other people around here are fans, so more power ot them!
I've tried Boloco twice and was uninspired, I just don't understand the appeal, I love Anna's (Carnitas Super with sour cream and extra jalapeƱos) and Boca Grande (Colorado Grande with sour cream).
The also tried the Berry Blitz Smoothie, it was nothing special. On the postive side, I did try the Nutella snack, that was yummy, but then again, dirt would taste good with Nutella :)
The guys at burritoblog seem to like Boloco... http://www.burritoblog.com/
Although the word Burrito appears on the menu of both Anna's and Boloco, the menus are nothing alike and I don't really see it as competition for Anna's. Boloco is not a Mexican restaurant. Boloco's menu is closer to Blue Shirt Cafe. That would seem to be its competition.

or...
"Boston" + "we're crazy"= "Boloco"?
...who knows. I wish B.Good would open a place in Davis Square.
