Not strictly Davis Sq... but would anyone know the latest I can get something postmarked tomorrow? I have an application due and I may need a plan B if the wheels of life don't turn with exquisite precision tomorrow. Is there a PO that stays open late(r) than 5 pm anywhere?

thanks!

South Station-area--the main PO for all of Boston is 24 hour.

Yep. To get there, walk out onto the leftmost commuter rail platform, then just keep going left until you see the back door into the post office.

Also, for a list of post offices and their daily opening/closing times, visit www.usps.com and click the top link to locate a post office.

Central Square is open till 7pm, and I think Harvard Square has extended their hours until 7pm, too... Not sure if that's for good or just for the holidays.

Oh, but I meant to add that Harvard's usually open until 6:30, even if I'm wrong on the holiday extension.

then it's changed -- the last time I looked, a few months ago, it had locations but not hours.

The USPS site isn't always accurate, either. *grump*

you could get it postmarked ahead of time and drop it in the mail later

I don't think they let you do that.

They have automatic mail machines which do that and you still have the chance to walk out with the package. Technically, I don't think that's a postmark, but they usually dont mark it again and the date is on the marking

A friend of mine does this for taxes quite a bit with her office's mailroom.

It is possible, and even usually not an issue, but it's not actually _LEGAL_. If something is delayed between when you run it through a postage meter and when you actually deposit it for delivery, you're supposed to re-meter it, with a zero-value stamp and the correct time/date. I don't know what the delay is that invokes this situation.
