idofoundation.org I saw a news special about this charity once, not somerville, but still they seem to do good work
you could also try craigslist and maybe you'll find a bride who could use some help

Not in Somerville but there's always Boomerang's in Jamaica Plain and Brighton. $$$ goes to the AIDS Action Committee.

If it's something that could be used as a high school prom dress, you could donate it to
Belle of the Ball
(http://www.antons.com/belle/donate.html).

What about the Salvation Army, or Goodwill Industries? They both have locations in Somerville, and the money raised is put to good use.

I'm against the salvation army (their policies) but you do have me thinking about planet aid and boomerangs (which I think is who I'll go to)
thanks!
