there's not a lot of "tuning" to do with laptop keyboards, you probably need it replaced. count on $100 (give or take $50) between parts and labor.

There's a place on Holland Street near the Au Bon Pain.

did you try removing the O key and seeing if there is gunk under there? If so, blow it out and then put the key back.

i've replaced a laptop keyboard before, it's not that hard.

The place on Holland Street is very reasonable.

But you might also be able, if you want to, do it your self. I did it. Go on ebay, find the keyboard.. (mine was an Inspiron 600m and cost about 20 dollars) and then take apart the top of the computer, pull out the broken keyboard, vacuum out the gunk for good measure, plug in the new keyboard and pop the top back on and you are ready to go.. the hardest part is pulling out the plastic part just above the keyboard because it feels like it's going to break, but its fairly resilient.

If you are feeling queasy about taking apart your computer, take it down to Holland Street and he'll have it apart in a matter of minutes.. I brought mine there for something else and he had it popped open so much faster than I had ever dreamed I could do it..

I just checked on ebay, yep 20 dollars.

The guy on Holland suggested that replacing my screen with a used one would run me about 150 for a used screen and labor.

Funny! I just had this happen with my N key this morning. I brought it down to "that guy on Holland" and he fixed it for $5. Of course, I don't need a whole new keyboard, but I recommend him.
His place is called Angeltronics and if you google it you can find him.

Easily done yourself - heck, if nobody else will, I'd do it for the cost of parts.

If you insist on a place, OK Computer down in Davis is fantastic.

You may have never realized this but the keys on your keyboard generally are self-repairable. Just get a flathead screwdriver and "pop" out the offending key. You can then blow in the keyboard, NES style, and get the junk out of there. Then you can just "pop" the key back in. Don't let anyone charge you for that, unless it is still broken in which case you should just go to compusa or someplace and get a $10 usb keyboard.
