Airplane noise is up 3X in Davis area this year. This is confirmed by Somerville Transportation Equity Partnership (STEP) and our mayor. You may or may not have read the articles in the news. Both STEP and our mayor have encouraged people who are annoyed by the noise, to call this number and complain:

The more people that call and complain the better chance we have in getting a reduction in overhead flights (so we're told).

I noticed it too this morning, and honestly, being sept 12th, it creeped me out just a little bit. (Thought something bad was up.)

Although having previously lived in Wisconsin, you almost never heard planes overhead.. But then again, it was also a cultural blackhole.

the creepiest part of sep 12 "when it happened" was that there was NO air traffic at all, i was on the beach, and it was QUIET. just waves.

I lived at my parents' house down in Foxboro at the time, where air traffic passes right overhead but still at a high altitude. I remember several hours after it happened hearing the insane roar of a military jet very close by, only so much shit was up in the air and Shanksville had just been reported that I had no fucking idea it was a military jet. That was probably the most abject, fear-laden moment I've ever had in my life. I'm quite surprised no one had a fucking heart attack. Our entire neighborhood was out on their lawns.

And then yeah, the quiet. So weird.

I was called a troll for mentioning this in the last post about air traffic noise. We were instructed not to reply if we think planes are cute and fuzzy.

Fuzzy airplanes! It'd work like owl feathers! I should call Boeing about this.
