"Best of Davis Square" poll series

These things weren't my idea, but we should see them through to completeness. So far we have had burritos (Anna's won), coffee shop (Diesel won), and pizza (Angelina's won).

What else would you like to do? Chinese food? Best bar/ pub? Best brunch? etc.

We could probably do 3 or 4 more of these and be done. How about having the next one Chinese food? We can do that one tomorrow so today you can nominate your favorite place. Once again, there are lots of places that could deliver to the Davis Square area, so lets try to keep the suggestions within a mile radius of the Square.

Therefore, to recap:

1) Your favorite bar/pub is good. How about best clothing store? Best sandwich/sub? Best Thai food? There's a lot of that around, although perhaps not in Davis proper.

2) You may not include Kee Kar Lau, based on the fact that it's god awful.

I agree about Kee Kar Lau. Its only redeeming value is it is open like till 3 am. When you are drunk and need something to eat, they are often your only choice (even if they are horrible).

There are NO good Chinese places in or near Davis Square. I suggest taking the red line to North Quincy/Quincy Center/Wollaston where GREAT Chinese (and Vietnamese, and Thai, and Korean, and Japanese) food abounds!

And apparently you'll need to specify that the center of Davis Square is considered to be the traffic island at the intersection of Highland and Elm, where the compass-thingy is, because SOME PEOPLE (harummph!) get all bent out of shape about the mileage thing.

I find Johnny D's brunch to be pretty mediocre. Kind of tired and oily. It's also crowded and noisy, which I don't like so much.

If best Chinese food within a mile of Davis Square is the question, you might want to leave room for an "all the Chinese food near Davis Square sucks" option. Because all the Chinese food near Davis Square sucks. QingDao Garden is the most passable. But it sucks, too.
