Boston Ave Fire

Does anyone know what caused the fire last night on Boston Ave between Morrison and Kidder?

I woke up very early in the AM to the sounds of sirens and could smell the fire. When I drove by this morning I could see one of the houses top floor had burned (though I couldn't tell the extent of the damage).

I hope everyone is okay!

Good gym?

My boyfriend are moving near the Tufts campus in Medford--not necessarily close to Davis, but much of what we do is centered in Davis--what's a good gym in the area?

I understand it's more difficult to find a gym that's good for women, and he's more interested in weights anyway and this is mostly for him, but we'd like to find a gym that would appeal to both of us (I'm not even going into what sexist stereotypes that invokes, but work with me).

Seeking OBGYN

Just moved to the area and need to find myself a new gynecologist within a month (my old doc won't prescribe me my birth control pills anymore since I don't live there), and would love them to be as close to Porter/Davis as possible. I'm inclined toward female doctors who are patient with people who hate going to the gynecologist, but would be happy with any firsthand recommendations. It's a pretty scary process to try and do through White Pages.

Theatre@First Looking for Publicity Manager

Theatre@First, the cool little community theatre group in Somerville, is
looking for a Publicity Manager and an Ad Sales Mananger for our current
show. This can be one person or a two-person team.

Fresh Pond rumblings

So I was going to be all kewl and sneak off to see X-men 3 at Fresh Pond today. I went to see the 12:30 showing.

Unfortunately when I got there the nice man at box office told me there wasn't a 12:30 showing today. Apparently they're still refurbishing Theater 3 (one of the 3 big screens at FP). The next one wasn't until 1:55. Crud!

The thing is if that screen is still be redone about a third of their advertised X3 times are highly dubious. I'd avoid the 2:55/5:20/7:45/10:10 showings today and possibly this weekend.

I have a soft spot for Fresh Pond, after all the new owners are putting much needed funds into rebuilding it, so I won't make any snarky remarks about false advertising.

I need a puppy.

Hello my fellow Somervillians.

I've had a rotten day at work (week, actually) and I decided the only cure is a puppy. Not to buy one, but to just cuddle one for a little bit. Trouble is, I don't know of any pet stores in the area. Any suggestions?
