So... it's like 1am. Is there anywhere in Somerville to get some food?

Or better yet, is there anywhere that might actually deliver this late?

I know it's a long shot... but still...

Edit: all the big stuff listed is spoken for or gone already. Sorry!. But there is still a continually growing pile of free stuff on the curb!

We're moving and still have lots of stuff we can't take with us. The big things include:

We have to move out in the next day or so, so if you want any of these things, act fast! We're on Spring Hill, pretty much right behind the Armory. We're also putting stuff out on the curb for free. It's mostly the left overs from the free "yard sale" I had on Monday. So if you're in the neighborhood, take a look and see if there's anything you want on the curb at 65 Hudson Street.

I need to find a hairstylist (and possibly a makeup artist) for my wedding September 23, 2006.
I haven't ever been to a real hairstylist since I've been in Boston.

Can anyone recommend someone good?
It will be 3 long-haired women (mid-back to waist) and one woman with shoulder-length hair who need hairstyling.

A man came to my door today requesting entry. He said "I'm here to see the house." I could hear him through the mail slot and see him through the window but I did not open the door.

He was male, looked about 25, possibly Hispanic (dark skin, eyes, hair), 6', medium build, wearing a light blue T-shirt with "Tufts" in extra-large white lettering on the front.

When I asked who he had talked to, he said "I'm here to look at the house." I asked, "who sent you here?" and he said, "the landlord sent me to look at the house". When pressed, he did not know the name of the landlord, or of anyone who lived at my house. I said he could not come in. He then said that he had gotten the address on "the Tufts housing web site; I'm a Tufts student". He stated that it was "a three-bedroom?" which is incorrect. I said that he must have the wrong house because as far as I knew, we didn't even have any rooms available, and that we had 7 bedrooms, not three. He said, "Right, three bedrooms on the top floor, four on the bottom". This was all wrong, and I said, "I'm sorry, I can't let a strange man into the house." and went away from the door. He shouted "You're crazy!" and left. I called the police, but the female dispatcher said that they had several emergencies in the area and couldn't send anyone, but to call back if he returned.

This occurred on College Ave between Davis Square and the Powderhouse rotary. This guy looked about 25 years old and was demanding and rude to his 'housing prospect'. It's possible that he just had the wrong address, but my gut registered him as sketchy.

Thanks for reading. Be safe, and have a great weekend!

EDIT: Crap, this happened just a block or two away from where an assault was alleged two weeks ago: http://community.livejournal.com/davis_square/616822.html

Hey, y'all--we're going to be leaving a queen-sized mattress and boxspring on the curb when we leave our apartment tonight. Perfectly good condition; we just didn't want to move it. Free to the first person who takes it. If you really want to be guaranteed a chance at it, be the first person to show up at 7pm to help move it down the stairs.

(Ditto a rather old loveseat; we wouldn't necessarily wish it on you, but hey, it is free.)

94 Pearson Avenue (#2).

This is for everyone who calls Davis home:

About 8:30ish this evening (Thursday), I was walking home and passed Hodgkins Park , and in the play-ground on the corner of Holland and Paulina there were a bunch of kids (early teens) all dressed in red, and red caps, loitering about after having spray-painted "Bloods" all over the jungle-gym slides and whatnot.

I called the police to notify them, but I suspect the kids left before they showed up. So...if we could all keep a watchful eye out on the park, and give a friendly shout out to Somerville's finest if we see this happening, perhaps we can nip a really irritating problem in the bud before it gets any worse.
