Inertia carries me to Dunkin Donuts, but I want to expand my horizons.  I want a good cup of coffee, not a Grande Triple No Moo Latte Smackaccino.  What do you recommend?

A day or two ago, a city road crew removed half of an island in the middle of Davis Square. They also took away the DAVIS SQUARE sign. I hope they put it somewhere safe so we can have it back later.

Today, the sidewalks on all sides of One Davis Square are closed off with yellow tape. Pedestrians must walk in a coralled-off section of the street. The half-island was removed so that there is still room for two eastbound lanes of traffic.

Does anyone have a Working Assets phone plan? What kind of service does it get in Davis Square/Boston in general?

The Union Square Brazilian Festival takes place tomorrow (Saturday) from 6 to 9 pm in Union Square Plaza. It is part of the Somerville Arts Council's ArtsUnion series.

The festival will present arts and activities representing
the southern region of Brazil. Cultural activities, including dance classes
and musical performances by Forro No Escuro and Batuk Axe, will offer the
local community, particularly the Brazilian population residing in Union
Square, an opportunity to engage in some of southern Brazil's most cherished
traditions.
