Greetings!

THIS SATURDAY, 16 September 2006, from 9am - 1pm, the Somerville Garden Club will be holding its annual Perennial and House Plant Sale in the middle of Davis Square (on the brick community space at the intersection of College Avenue and Holland Street, across from the Somerville Theater)

THE SALE GOES ON RAIN OR SHINE!

The sale benefits the Somerville Garden Club and Groundwork Somerville Growing Healthy Gardens Program.

I'm a member of the Garden Club and it's huge fun - I highly recommend it. They mainly use the funds to pay for the ever-informative newsletter and the speaker fees for guest presenters at the monthly meetings (and to keep the annual membership fee to only $20).

There will be all sorts of common and strange and wonderful plants, some small and easy to take care of and some large and imposing and everything in between. There might also be Garden Club t-shirts, though I'm not sure. You could even sign up to be a member!

Please come along and support The Somerville Garden Club.

Thanks!

At least 12 New Orleans-style marching bands will parade through Davis Square on Saturday, October 7, for the first ever HONK! Festival.

The event is organized by our local Second Line Social Aid and Pleasure Society, who are occasionally seen marching around Davis even when there isn't a festival going on.

Anyone know of a way online to quickly find out the price of various houses that are for sale around here? I heard there was some sort of database - but maybe that is realtors only?

I am looking for some tall, unfinished wooden bookshelves that I can stain or paint. Has anyone has an especially good experience with a place around here? Good pricing? I note there are a lot of options on the other side of the river, but transport will be easier if it's up here.

Thank you!

Since I got such good info about deleading on here, I thought I'd throw another one at you all. Has anyone had hardwood floors installed by a local business? In particular, I'm looking at Ace Floor Covering (in Ball Square) over something like Home Depot, but I can't find any online statements about their work (maybe that's a good thing as online statements tend to be complaints). Anyone used them or used another area flooring company? I prefer to go with a local business over a chain. Thanks!
