I don't know when it happened, but earlier this month I noticed that the street cleaning signs have been updated, and alternate side of the street parking will now continue through December 31, rather than ending November 30 as usual.

I wonder if there was any reason for this beyond increasing ticket revenue.

I can't wait until the days when snow emergencies and street cleaning overlap, leaving no parking whatsoever on some streets. Yay.

Advance warning: The Red Line will be replaced with shuttle buses this weekend between Kendall Square and Park Street. I think it's to facilitate construction of the new Charles station.

If the schedule works for you, consider instead taking the commuter train between Porter Square and North Station.

Hi all,

I am doing a research project for my Social Work class analyzing the community at Davis Square.

I found this website and have actually found it to be a very valuable resource.

One thing I have had trouble with, though, is finding out more about the elected officials that represent Davis Square - locally, statewide, etc.

If anyone knows who your representatives/senators are, or if anyone knows anything about a local council or government, I would LOVE details - their politics, names, etc.

You might even get to be cited in my paper! ;-)

Thanks so much.

I notice that there are "no parking" signs for tomorrow morning on the other side of Willow Ave from the area mentioned in the following post (http://community.livejournal.com/davis_square/689797.html). When did these go up? I don't remember them this morning but that doesn't mean anything as I merely bike past there on my way to work. Anyway consider this a reminder as it's a fairly long stretch of Willow Ave south of Broadway with lots of cars parked their right now.

New job, new insurance, etc etc... Aetna PPO does not appear to give me a lot of choice -- none of the people who've been recommended in this community before appear to be part of their network. So, this is probably a long shot, but does anyone know anything about ANY of these dentists? Good experiences, or bad ones...? I pulled them pretty randomly off the Preferred Provider network of people close to 02144. (And no, they won't let me go to Dr. Casey Cook, despite the fact that he wins these please-recommend-a-dentist questions every single time!!!)

Back in February, [livejournal.com profile] ron_newman asked about the bowling alley in Ball Square which appeared empty. Click here for that thread.

I'd noticed the emptiness too...yet tonight, when driving past, I saw it packed with people bowling. Did it recently re-open?
