Walking home from work tonight about twenty minutes ago I saw a cat in the playground next to the ballpark on Holland Street. She (I think it was a she) was SUPER friendly and pretty young, still kittenish. Small tuxedo cat, with four white paws, a white tummy, and classic face coloring with a little black goatee on her chin. She was wearing a red collar with a reflective stripe that was pretty fluffed up and no tags. She seemed fine, with a clean smooth coat and she wasn't very cold, so I left her there. I tried to get a picture with my camera phone but she was moving around so much rubbing on everything and flipping around that this was the best I got:

If she is an indoor/outdoor kitty who is just going for an evening jaunt, that's fine (get some tags!) but if you're looking for her, I last saw her in that playground. I hope she is okay! Too much a worrier, I am...

The Somerville Journal is reporting that Jimmy Tingle's Off Broadway theatre will close at the end of this month when its lease runs out.  The theatre opened in November 2002.

I'm traveling to Tokyo on October 28, and I want to have a little card with my food allergies written up in Japanese, just in case (like something I could flash to a waiter).

Can anyone recommend a Japanese translator or translation service for this task?

Hey all,

I'm a bit of a language junkie and have been trying to find a good place to start learning Italian lately. Does anybody have suggestions other than CCAE and BCAE? I haven't had the best experiences in the past with language courses there.

I discovered a website for a place in North Cambridge called Domus Italica that initially sounded promising, but their domain registration expired over the weekend and I've gotten no response to e-mails, so I'm thinking they're defunct.

Somerville seems to have such a big Italian community -- surely there must be some local oganization that offers courses in the language? If only the university I work for offered Italian classes at times when I'm not, well, working!

All suggestions appreciated!

Pursuant to a thread from several months ago, I chose Green Cab to bring me to Logan at the obscene hour of 4:45am this morning. The reservation was made yesterday. They arrived right on time and were very professional. What I feel is more important to this community, they are implementing Hybrid cars. The car was a 2008 Saturn Aura, and was purchased just two weeks ago. I'm not saying that other cab companies aren't as good or doing the same thing. I just wanted to pass along the positive experience. Sorry in advance if this information is a repost.

Cedar Street will be closed on Wednesday, October 17, from Morrison Ave. to Alpine Street, from 9 am to "no later than 4 pm". The closure will allow a city contractor to remove embedded railroad tracks and repave this part of the street.

This morning, a friend and I put two carved pumpkins on bollards in the traffic island in the middle of the intersection in the square. I was pleased to see that they were still there as I came home this evening.

Other folks should add their own. A collection would be cool.

Waiting for the bus home from the Square at about 6 pm, I saw a number of police cars with lights flashing near the Dunkin' Donuts on Elm Street. Any know what was going on?
