reminder: Davis Square Game Night

This Weekend!

what:
Bring your games (board games or strategy games, or card games, or dice games...) and enjoy good food and fun. If you bring your own players, that's fine. If you are looking to meet some new people or find a couple of more people to round out a game of Settlers of Catan, that's fine, too. (You can choose to be as social as you want; this is a very informal gathering and no one will put you on the spot. Most people don't know each other, so one more stranger will not seem so amiss.)

when:
Sunday, March 30th, around 5pm to 10pm (close)
(Feel free to come earlier if you'd like- there is no set starting point and some of those games can get long!)

where:
Boloco, Davis Square (187 Elm Street) Somerville

who:
Everyone is welcome. This is a all-community event and is not limited to Davis_Square readers. Bring you family, friends, roommates, people you meet on the way, etc.

This fun event is growing each time it is held. Last month's game night saw some TransAmerica, Settlers of Catan, Letras, Equals, and something I can't recall that involved utilities and fun bright colors as well as a Blokus game I did not see in action. The month before that saw some Fluxx, Farkel, Catan, and Scrabble. As you can see, any game is welcome and there are always more games that players so don't be worried if you don't come with a game in hand! The staff of Boloco is great and always makes us feel very welcome.

Can't make it? maybe next month. We can do this monthly.
Feel free to repost this wherever you think people will be interested.

Hope to see you all there!

Thanks to everyone who replied to my post yesterday about Reese's peanut-butter eggs. And since I know you're on the edge of your seats: I did finally find them at the CVS in Magoun Square, on Broadway. They had about 8-10 six-packs left and I exercised a great deal of restraint by only buying two.

BTW, in the heat of the hunt, my toddler suffered a casualty -- her beloved teddy bear, which she lost while we were at the Davis Square CVS looking for candy. At least, I'm pretty sure that's where she must have dropped it. I went back there this morning and they didn't have it in their lost-and-found, so I'm guessing it's gone forever. Good thing we still have our emergency holographic backup bear. But the moral of the story is: chocolate is evil, mmmkay?

Howdy all. Anyone been to the Good Food Cafe? It's at 2378 Mass Ave right outside Davis Square. A highschool classmate of mine owns it but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. It has some great Yelp reviews which say it has great food and free wifi.

Anyway, I wanted to help spread the word that there's some free live music there this Friday night:

"A great local band, The Wicked Pickers, will be playing at the cafe on Friday, March 28th. They describe themselves as hillbilly jazz and feature guitar, mandolin, electric violin and fretless bass. The have some songs you can listen to on thier website, www.wickedpickers.com It should be lots of fun. Hope to see you there!"

Just wanted to help spread the word for what appears to be a fine locally owned business. :)

zombie crossing

Hello Undead Friends...

As there was little progress made in a previous thread about this year's Zombie march (which seems at this point to be non-existant, due to lack of the previous organizers' web presence and publicity)- I'd like to ensure that we've got a zombie march in which to lurch.

I'm happy to make some fliers if anyone would like to print them out and distribute them soon. The thing I'd like to establish is the date. A Saturday night is optimal, from 4:00 at Davis until 7ish in Central at perhaps the People's Republic for a gathering spot.

I'd like to do this on April 26th, anyone want to help out by publicizing? Any serious qualms?

I'll decide on the logistics in about a week, once people have added their two cents, then create a suitably undead poster for distribution unless a fabulous graphic designer/artist would like to lend their skills.

Grahhh.
