I walk to work everyday, so I haven't commuted on the train in 3 years now.  But yesterday I had to get to the city so I hopped the train and there were two very buff, swat-team style cops with large guns -- I don't know my guns, but this sure wasn't a handgun, it extended about the length of his torso.  Is this a new thing?  Have there been military style police riding the rails for a while now?  I opted to take the next train but the other passengers seemed less surprised.

Yet another parking question.

I'll be out of town May 17-24th - which, like this week, happens to be a week where cleaning it occuring on both sides of the street on Wednesday and Thursday.  I don't have anyone who can move my car Wednesday night, and would like to find something cheaper than the $50 parking ticket as an alternate idea?

I will call Somerville 311 as well, but wanted to see if anyone sugguestions.  If I get any info from 311, i'll post it as an FYI.

Thank you.

I realize it's a little far afield for many of you, but I noticed that the former Wild Oats store on Alewife Parkway in Medford will be re-opening as a Whole Foods on May 14th.

Here's the link:

I would expect the usual WF array of samples and giveways.  I wonder if they will bring back free ice cream days?

Best Pizza?

I think tomorrow might be a good day to do poll #3. Lets do "best pizza in or around Davis Square". I don't want to delete again or rush people to think of places, so go ahead and please discuss what should (or shouldn't) be included.

Muchas gracias.

Edited Edit: The rule here is going to be located in or around Davis Square not delivers in or around Davis Square. This knocks off Pinky's. Its in Medford and that is just a bit too far away. I'd say anything walkable within 15 minutes of the Davis Square T stop.

EDIT 2: I'm going to be away from the computer for most of this morning (editing this at 7:30 am), so expect the poll sometime around mid-day.

Hey everyone!   A friend of mine started a small campaign to get Trader Joe's to put a store in Davis Sq. Consider how great it would be  if a Tader Joe's was right in the Square. Highly convenient, delicious food, fresh produce, and the prices aren't so bad.

Please fill out the request form. It should only take 30 seconds.

Maybe if enough people submit a request they'll actually look into it!

So I've been seeing some posts about a Zombie March that supposedly takes place in Davis Sq. sometime at the end of may. But I'm not particularly fond of zombies...

So what if we had a march in opposition with Pirates, our mantra being "Booty not brains"?
