Our next [livejournal.com profile] davis_square meet-up is going to be at the Burren on June 25th at 7pm. This is going to be a combination meet-up/ trivia night!

The Burren now has pub trivia on Wednesday nights. Trivia was originally scheduled to happen at 8pm, but it is going to be pushed back to 9 for our meet-up. So we all can meet at 7pm and have a couple of hours to drink and be friendly and then those who want to form teams can play trivia.

Once again, the Burren is being exceedingly nice to us.

If you can, please stop by the Burren on the 10th to support the Key Foundation fundraiser (it starts at 7pm and there will be lots of cool prizes and freebies).

About a week before the event I will send out the usual poll, but mark your calendars now. :)

NEXT GENERATION PRODUCERS YOUTH MEDIA & SOMERVILLE COMMUNITY ACCESS TELEVISION present an evening of youth made videos.

On Tuesday June 3 @ 6 PM at the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square we will be screening works from youth in Somerville and beyond who have created videos in our youth media program. There will be work done by youth from Somerville Cares About Prevention (SPF 100), Centro Presente and the Somerville Boys & Girls Club. The night will feature three documentaries, tacking the Somerville drama club, an in depth look at different dance styles and an intimate portrait of one girls’ life, two original music videos and one short story done in animation along with 3 PSA's targeting issues of gang pressure and underage drinking.

The event is free and open to the public. Please come down to hear what the youth have to say and support them in their efforts!

If you have any questions please call Somerville Community Access Television at 617-628-8826.

The Somerville Garden Club will sponsor a self-guided tour of over three dozen private gardens on Saturday, June 21, from noon to 5 p.m. This is the first such tour since 2000. I highly recommend it.

The tour booklet, which is also your admission ticket, costs $12. You can buy it in advance at Pemberton Farms (2225 Mass. Ave. at Day Street) or Sherman Café (257 Washington St., Union Square).

For more information, visit the Garden Tour web page.

I just learned that if you have lived in Somerville or Medford for more then 6 months you can audit one class a semester at Tufts for the cost of registering ie only $45! (at least for the summer programs) I checked the past logs on this site and this info is buried in a sting of comments from two years ago, but since there are probably many people that have joined in the past two years seems like it is worth mentioning. I found it very exciting.....  http://ase.tufts.edu/summer/other.asp

We've got stuff and things to get rid of NOW in Teele Square just off Broadway. (Kitchen demolition starts tomorrow!)

Stuff! And things! (edited as more things get added or stuff is taken) )

Priority goes to whomever can pick up soonest, so come on down!

There are also two pieces of furniture for sale: a hutch and a butcher block island. Both are very nice pieces, especially the latter, which was designed to be a peninsula or island but was never used that way here so it wasn't really appreciated. The surface could use a sanding, but you'd pay over a grand for something like this new. It's 30"x60" with two shelves underneath open to all sides, with a drop-leaf on one side (turns it into a breakfast bar, basically) and a drawer on the other. The hutch is 19"x48" with cabinets and drawers on the lower half and three shelves up top. Pictures to come later if they aren't taken before then.

On Thursday, June 5th, Tufts Art Gallery has a reception for their latest show.

Here are the details on the exhibit:

http://www.ase.tufts.edu/gallery/shows/summer-08.html

The reception runs from 5:30 to 8:30 pm and there will be beer and wine available (for free -- just tip the server, please).  It also looks like there will be live music.  With not many students around, you won't have to fight off a massive crowd and there should be plenty of food.  They even ration the catering so it's not gone all to the first people who show up.

Get some culture and connect with your neighborhood university.
