Chloe has returned!  Thanks to all of those who contacted me with tips!

Hi all. I posted a few days ago, but I'm re-posting because we still haven't found our brown tabby cat, Chloe. She is a spayed, microchipped 2-year-old who escaped from her house on Cedar Street on June 8th. When last seen, she was wearing a red collar with a circular tag on it. We've received calls from people who think they've seen her on Summer, Porter, and Hancock, but none of the leads have panned out and we're not actually sure if any of these were true sightings. Turns out there are a lot of brown tabbies out there. If you've seen Chloe or even think you have, please let me know.

tufts pool

i just perused the archives about swimming and with great joy, i learned about the tufts pool.  i called the city of medford and season passes are only $15 (yay!) but only for medford residents (boo!).  alas, i am a somervillian through and through.  does anyone know if there's any way for non-medford residents to use the pool?  or if there is some way to circumvent this whole pesky resident thing?  i have spent the morning daydreaming about swimming during my lunch break and now my dreams have been crushed.

Hi All,

You're invited to our mid-week service in our cool basement chapel this evening at First Church Somerville. Rest and Bread begins at 6:15 and ends at 6:45. Music for meditation begins at 6:00.

If you want to, you can hang out afterward to help with the finishing touches to our Pride Hats, amazing constructions of summer hats and flowers. Then, of course you can march with us in the Pride Parade on Saturday.

You can find us at 89 College Ave., on your way home. Come for some peace and balm.

CSAs!

You were all so wonderfully helpful when it came to my asking about car & rental insurance that I thought I'd return to you with another question...

I know it's late to even be thinking about it, but I'd really love to be a member of a local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). I remember looking a couple months ago (once I had signed a lease and knew for sure that I would be living here) to try to find one that would be convenient and it seemed that they were all sold out. Obviously that's probably even more true now (and I know they've all started by now) but I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas. I absolutely loved my CSA in Ithaca (NY, where I was before now) and find myself missing it (weird? maybe). If I still can't find a place to get a share, I'll continue to hit up the farmer's markets in the area, but I'm still hoping...

Anyway, if anyone has any leads or tips I'd love to hear them! In terms of pick-up, I'd like something to be relatively nearby (walking or the T would be best but I'd be willing to drive if it was within about a 15 minute range... I'm desperate!) and because of my work hours, I'd need a pick-up in the evenings (I couldn't do one of the early afternoon ones).

Even if they're already full up, if you belong to one and love it, I'd like to hear about it so I can look into it for next summer already! In terms of that--do any of the ones around here have local farms you can go to for u-pick things? My last CSA had that for beans, tomatoes, basil, hot peppers and so on and it was one of my favorite thing about it.

Thank you again!!

my car radio is busted - yesterday it was randomly changing stations and getting stuck on scan, and this morning it got stuck at one station and one volume level - so i need to get it either fixed or replaced, and i looked back thru the "car" posts and couldn't find any specific radio posts, so - any suggestions where i can take it? i don't need a fancy-ass stereo system, i don't particularly want to buy a radio in one place and take it to be installed somewhere else (unless that really is the best option), and i don't trust myself to diy it. i called hondar house out of curiosity (they fixed my brakes, which was the last significant car work i needed) and the guy i talked to said to go to best buy. o.O but i figured i'd appeal to you guys first.

(i have a '98 civic with a ten-year-old stereo with cassette player, if it makes a difference. i really only ever listen to the radio, and i'd like a way to plug in my ipod, but otherwise i don't ask much from the stereo.)

Our internet (via Comcast) has been giving us trouble for close to a week now; it keeps dropping us every ten minutes or so, and a hard reboot gets us back on. Comcast has been kind of opaque, alternating between suggesting rebooting the modem, moving it off the surge protector, and then saying "there's an outage in the area", but I haven't been able to get more details from them.

I'm curious how widespread this is, and if (if other people are suffering from the "outage") anyone else has gotten any estimates of fixing. (We're on Lester Terrace, just behind Seven Hills Park).
