My roommate is deserting me to move in with her boyfriend, so I'm in search of a new roommate.

Never mind. Found someone.

Anyone else see the sign up in Soleil? They're closed for now until they open under new management, which is a former pastry chef from Modern Pastry. I don't think they included a re-opening date, but I saw it on my way home from work, so I was pretty drunk.

If this means I can get a decent coffee in Teele before 10am and after 3pm, that's great news.

So, this actually isn't in davis square, but I like this community better than the general somerville one, so I'm asking here.

The new place I moved into is next to a church that is very noisy very often. I'm not sure if they're having services, or hosting some other random events or what, but there is often loud music and drums coming from it -- sometimes quite late.

To whom should I complain? Is there any way to deal with this via city government? I mean, it would be nice if they would either turn the volume down, or better soundproof their building, but I don't think they'll do either voluntarily.

I was wondering if anyone had any more info than what I have found out so far.

The Metamorphisis spa that was upstairs in the building next door to Starbucks is apparently closed according to their site. I was near there recently and I still saw their sign outside. Well I went to make an appt today since I had purchased a pretty expensive package for something and I still have 3 visits left..only to find out they are currently closed and looking for a new location. I sent an email to the contact us address but I was hoping someone could shed some light. Maybe the rent was too high? I wonder what happens to my money :(

Update:

(see new entry here: http://community.livejournal.com/davis_square/1330732.html )

Metamorphisis is definitely closed and has now re-opened in Dedham. After contacting the owner she replied and explained what happened. She had a bad breakup with a boyfriend...the father manages the building and refused to allow her until at least the end of the month to notify clients with pending appointments, clients in general to explain the move and to remove her stuff. He only gave her 3 days to be out. I feel terrible as this woman is extremely nice and was always good to us when there. She offered us a complete refund of what we have paid and only asked us to wait until the end of July as she has had no income since May. I just wanted to post the story so people didn't think she was some shady business woman who disappeared.

Orange long-haired cat lost from Wallace Street Wednesday evening June 25. He has white paws, chest, and stomach, pink nose. Usually is friendly (but may be scared or appear disoriented). He is probably wearing a collar (aqua/turquoise color with silver/gray pawprints on it), but it may have come off. He needs medication, so we are worried about him! The tag has our phone number on it. He may have gotten under someone's porch or in a garage or basement. If at all possible, we would really appreciate it if you could look in those areas of your home if you live in the neighborhood!

6/25/08 Edited to add: He's missed two doses of his meds and might very well have a seizure. If he is about to have a seizure he might act strange -- running back and forth, meowing a lot, turning in circles, etc. And during/after the seizure, he might look like he's foaming at the mouth, but it's NOT rabies -- he's had his shots. It's just from the seizures and losing control of his muscles.

Sunday, June 29: He's home now, safe and sound! Someone saw him over on Chandler Street this morning and called. She got him to come into her house and fed him. He seems in good shape -- a bit shaken, and quiet, but hasn't lost any weight. I just gave him his meds. He's quietly wandering around, being given treats, and being groomed by my other cat. I'm going to have him checked out at the vet's this week. Thanks so much to everyone who expressed concern! We are so happy he's back.
