I live just outside Davis on the Cambridge side of the line and have a lesser of two evils question. Somerville apparently adopted a policy to give $50 sweeping tickets, but not tow violating cars. How would people suggest promoting a similar change to the City of Cambridge?

Due to early focus on work Wed. morning, I missed moving my car for street sweeping and it's gone to a Cambridge tow yard. That means a trip to the yard, more than $100 to retrieve the car, AND pay a ticket that's $30 or so. (Old news to many previous "parking" posters.) A single $50 ticket would be SO much better than this. Are people familiar with what Somerville considered in making this change to the books, or what pushed them to make this decision?

What's with all these low-flying and extremely noisy planes today? It's one every 30 seconds! Who else can hear them?

I believe there was an old film set in the Rosebud diner, right? Which was it?
Is there a whole history somewhere of the place?
my google/goodsearch-fu isn't giving me an answer.
Thanks!

Yes, it's that time of year again!

I have access to as many solvent boxes i can get my hot little hands on at work. However, as fellow bibliophiles can attest, big boxes for moving books are RUDE to your movers.

Does anybody have a stash of smaller boxes they have been meaning to get rid of, suitable for moving books and not bruising the crap out of arms, and leaving fingers mashed and without feeling?  I suspect something like 50 % of people in the great DS area moved about 2.5 weeks ago, and some of you still have boxes to get rid of.  I know i can go to stores to get boxes, but honestly, i'd rather help actual people out with their box recycling/regifting.  Let me help you! :D

I can pick them up on weeknights in the coming week, or pretty much anytime during awake hours after next Thursday.

Thanks!

If I don't post this now, someone else wlll post tomorrow night asking what the loud booms are. So....

The Town of Arlington will shoot off fireworks at Spy Pond tomorrow night at dusk, as part of Town Night festivities.

And if you'd like to have a good time while learning something about our western neighbor, check out Town Day in Arlington Center, Saturday from 10 to 3. It's a big street fair with lots of food, booths, and entertainment, comparable to Somerville ArtBeat or the Cambridge River Festival.
