I've been in a downsizing mood, so I'm offering up free stuff to d_s members before carting it off to goodwill.

I'm at 123 Elm St, next to the Shaws at Porter Square (it's close enough I think). Let me know what you'd like, and I'll pop it on the front porch in a plastic bag with your name on it. As soon as I've responded to your comment, assume your stuff is outside. :)

Books and DVDs. )
Craft stuff - ribbon bows. )
Clothing and shoes. )
Other things. )

Our sidewalks are served with a lovely glaze this morning.

Putting trash cans on the street was easy though. I just picked them up, then stood perfectly motionless while I slid back down the driveway.

Our Kitchenaid mixer tried and failed to eat a measuring cup the other day, and is currently inoperative. I'm looking for someplace local that would be able to repair it. Alternatives are taking it to the Kitchenaid service center in Salem, which seems like a heck of haul, or shipping it off the factory, which is potentially expensive. Any suggestions? I tried Dell's Appliance, but they don't do mixers. Thanks for your help!

I need to bring a salad to a group activity, to feed about 10 folks. No time to make it myself, so I am looking for a Davis Sq place where I can order and pickup a large salad. Any thoughts?

more on Luna Farm )

I run a small farm, Luna Farm, in North Reading and will be distributing CSA shares in Somerville near Davis and Teele Squares.  I have included some information about what a CSA is and about what the farm is like.  Please let me know if you have any questions.   There are only 5 shares left for the Somerville distribution.
Thanks,
Lydia

On March 22, 2009, as part of this project, we will host an afternoon of arts and entertainment to which area artists are invited to submit proposals for performance and/or display of creative offerings at this event. "Sacred Conversation on Race" is communication, rooted in a sense of the Divine, that promotes authentic, non-judgmental sharing on the subject of race and its related themes. Submissions of proposals should be sent to Rita Rocha at ror36@hotmail.com no later

than March 7, 2009. Please include your name, contact information (including a phone number), medium, a sample (if possible) and description of the work you propose to share (including time frame for performance pieces and space requirements for visual pieces). Dear Davis Sq.

First Church Somerville, United Church of Christ, an open and affirming congregation, is having an Ash Wednesday Service this Wednesday at 7 PM, including the imposition of ashes. Please bring a piece of clay pottery you'd be willing to break during the service, as a sign of our brokeness. The broken pieces of pottery will be used in an art piece that will proceed during Lent, and will be presented on Easter.

The theme for our service is "Broken."

The music for the service is from Taize.

We're at 89 College Ave. in Davis Sq., the church with the rainbow flag.

Rev. Laura Ruth
