According to HubArts, the Alternative Comedy festival will be at the Somerville Theater from May 7-10. The lineups include Janeane Garofalo, Michael Ian Black, Eugene Mirman, and people from The Onion and the Upright Citizens Brigade.

Parking permits with a half-life

I'm sorry to add another parking-related post, but I have a question. Is it common knowledge that when you move to Somerville and get a parking permit it's only good for 6 months, even though you pay full price? I didn't know that. Does anyone know the reason for this, I mean other than the fact that the parking office is trying to get as much of our money as possible?

House-cleaner recommendations

Hello!

I'm looking for someone to clean my very messy apartment. The last person I had stole a lot of random things (she ended up paying me back), so I'm being extra-extra-extra careful about making sure I get recommendations from "actual people" as opposed to whoever she had giving hers.

Here's what I'm looking for:
-honest (see above)
-is not slow
-doesn't freak out over messes
-can work independently and without lots of instructions
-can tell what is obviously trash and what is not (a skill some seem to lack)

I like to be out while the person is working so I'm not in the way. Generally, we'll agree on an hourly rate and a number of hours and I'll leave payment.

This is for at least one major cleaning project with the possibility of "upkeep" kinds of cleaning later.

Welding Class 3/18

This class will teach you everything you need to know about welding over a two night period (March 18th adn 25th). Classes are held in our metal shop at 440 Somerville Ave. from 7-10pm.

This class covers the following topics:

-Welding safety and equipment.
-Cleaning and preparing your piece for welding.
-TIG Welding techniques.
-MiG Welding techniques
-Oxyfuel welding techniques.
-Spot welding operation.

plenty of practice time on each machine, plus consultation with a metal shop manager about any upcoming projects your may have.

Cost: $95 includes all materials.
