I found a set of keys in the private parking lot behind the CVS in Davis Square this evening, around 7:15 PM. They have no identifying markers - no club cards, no name tags, etc.

I will hand these keys over to you if you can answer the following:

(1) A rough estimate of the number of keys on this chain, and

(2) The make of the car key that's on this chain.

Weird and vague, I know, but without any other ID I'm not sure how else to prove they're yours.

If I don't hear back in a few days, I'm handing them in to the police.

There is something that happens after Spring Break at Tufts. Suddenly, the student clubs remember all the activities they promised to their members and the folks who give them funds to operate. The result -- a flood of films on campus for us to enjoy. Expect to see even more films in the coming weeks, some on very short notice.

Tufts Film Series will show "A Touch of Spice" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" tonight and "W" and "Frost/Nixon" next weekend.

Other highlights:

* The US premiere of the documentary "The Liberators of Bulgaria" will be held in Medford Center today at 4 pm.
* The Tufts German House Monday night film series will show "Aimee & Jaguar".
* The Tufts Anthropology Department will show "Live From Bethlehem" on Monday with the filmmaker in attendance.
* Students At Tufts Acting for Immigrant Rights will present "El Norte" on Thursday at 8 pm.
* The Tufts Convergence Conference will show "Today the Hawk Takes One More Chick" on Friday at 8:30 pm with the filmmaker in attendance.
* The Romance Language Department will screen "Don't Move" on Sunday as part of their Italian Film Series and "Tell No One" as part of the French Film Series.

I'll keep my eyes open for more screenings and let you know.
Coming attractions... )

Does anyone in the area have a scale that can measure something approximately 10 pounds (a cat) to within at least 1/10th of a pound of precision reliably? Our cat has IBD and we need to keep a careful eye on his weight because he does appear to be losing some. I have a scale like this on order but it isn't scheduled to arrive until at least Thursday and I am afraid to wait that long.

It would be idea if we could borrow it until the new scale arrives.

Thanks x 1 million to anyone who can step forward with this one...

Hello!
Just wanted to introduce ourselves - we are the new owners of Teele Square Cafe (the former Soleil Cafe).  We've lived in the area for a long time; Shea went to Tufts and Jon's a local guy.  We sold 2nd Street Cafe (E. Cambridge) a year ago after our daughter was born, and then landed on Teele Square as our new venture.  We've created a great food menu with daily changing specials and will be open better/longer hours for the community.  Our goal is to serve homemade comfort food made from scratch in a fun, laid-back atmosphere, closer to home.
You can check out our website www.teelesqcafe.com for more menu details, the chef's background, etc. and follow us on twitter.com under Teele Square Cafe for the daily special(s).
Thanks and hope to see you soon.

I'd really like to renovate the deck on the back of my house this year (it's falling apart). The City of Somerville requires certified plans be on file for all such projects in order to get a permit. Most contractors I've talked to say that a) Somerville is very rigid in its building requirements and b) that you need to get an architect or structural engineer to do the plans before contractors will take up the job.

Has anyone had experience with renovating decks in Somerville? And if so, who did you get to do your plans?  Any suggestions/recommendations about how to find reasonably priced folks to draw up the plans would be great (and if you loved your deck contractor, I'd like to know that too). Thanks!
