a month ago groupon contacted me, and asked me, 'what do you think people in your area want?' and I said, 'I bet they want more groupons in Davis Square.' Today's deal is $10 for $20 at Petsi Pies, and I have the strange feeling they listened (and considering the Ball Sq. Cafe deal hit over 3900 buys, when they normally get about 500, I think it might have been the right answer).

I thought I would run this by the community, and perhaps a real estate agent or lawyer will have some background to share. We recently had an offer accepted on a condo near Porter, and after the offer was accepted, while checking online, discovered that the unit had previous lead paint inspections that found violations, apparently during the previous owner's watch.

The current sellers and their agent had specifically indicated there were no disclosures. Our understanding is that according to the law they had to disclose to us the results of the lead tests. It seems that either the previous owner failed to disclose the results to them (and they didn't try hard to find the public record on their building), or they knew about the tests but failed to disclose them to us; in either case, it seems someone was breaking the rules.

We have decided not to purchase the condo, but wonder if there is something we can do to help ensure that such lead paint violations are disclosed.

Any experiences with this would be of interest.

The latest from the MWRA:

The 120" pipe connection has been repaired, pressurized and put back into service. Fully treated water has been distributed to the MWRA system since about 6 PM on Sunday and is expected to continue. Water pressure in MWRA service area is in typical ranges.

Please remember that a Boil Water Order is in effect for the following communities until otherwise notified and water use should be restricted to essential use only.

Essentially every community provided two sets of coliform/water quality samples on Sunday (thank you). Communities will collect a second round of coliform samples today. Collection of these samples will assist with resolution of the open boil water order and we again thank you for your cooperation.

According to news reports, the boil-water order could be lifted tomorrow or Wednesday.

Hello, this is Jackie Rossetti from the City of Somerville with urgent information regarding the City’s Boil Water Order. Please listen CAREFULLY to the following information, as restrictions will apply to water resources and availability.

The City of Somerville has secured a VERY LIMITED supply of bottled water, which we will make available to residents in families with small children, elderly residents, or to those residents with compromised immune systems or disabilities. ALL RESIDENTS WHO HAVE THE CAPABILITY TO BOIL WATER ARE ASKED TO CONTINUE DOING SO, as it will ensure that our limited supply is made available to those who are most in need.

Water distribution centers will be set up tonight, Monday, May 3rd, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in TWO locations. The DPW yard, located behind Trum Field at 1 Franey Road, and the East Somerville Community School yard on Cross Street will both be open while supplies last. Translation services will be available where possible. Again, residents who DO have the capability to boil water in their homes are asked NOT to visit these distribution sites.

For up-to-date information on the Boil Water Order, please visit www.mass.gov, or call 2-1-1. Thank you for your cooperation during this difficult situation.

Comcast just raised my rates to $71 for internet and basic cable. I feel like this is really high and wanted to see if other people in the community were getting better rates with a different company.
