Support your fellow Somervilleians tonight!

Us folks in the Somerville/Medford should all go. Not only is the project needed for Somervile, it is required to be built by 2011 as one of the conditions required to allow the Big Dig to be built.

There will be another important public hearing on the Green Line extension through Somerville on Monday, Feb. 28, at 6:30 p.m. at the Somerville High School Auditorium, 81 Highland Ave. It will be a strain to turn out a large crowd of residents for the third time in four months. But we must do so.

Green Line Meeting Postponed; Snow Emergency Declared

SOMERVILLE – Tonight’s meeting with state officials regarding the Green Line extension into Somerville has been postponed due to the winter storm now threatening the region. City officials said forecasters are predicting 6 – 12 inches of heavy, wet snow beginning late this afternoon or early this evening.

Mayor Joe Curtatone declared a snow emergency for the city of Somerville beginning at 3 p.m. Residents must park on the odd side of the street. Cars not moved before 7 p.m. tonight will be subject to ticketing and towing. If residents are unable to find a parking space on the odd side of the street, they may park in any municipal or school parking lot for the duration of the emergency.

The School Committee meeting scheduled for tonight will occur. Committee members are expected to pick the finalist for school superintendent at the session.

The Executive Office of Transportation said they would reschedule tonight’s public hearing on the Green Line in the near future.

This innovative benefit for the film The Ballad of Burd Janet recreates an old-time radio show, with skits and music galore.

A staging of Arch Oboler's "Revolt of the Worms" will serve as the evening's centerpiece. The play tells the story of a botanist obsessed with growing the perfect rose who invents a hormone formula that, when poured into the ground, has a startling effect on worm physiology. Local actors Rob O'Dwyer (of the Buck Dewey Big Band), Juliet Bowler (from the movie alt.sex), Richard Wright (local theatre actor) and Matt Wolpe -- along with foley artist Matt Samolis -- will bring this play to life.

Comedian and consummate ukelele player Craig Robertson will help the evening along with his wit and musical agility, with some help from Karen Langlie.

A great time will be had by all, and I cannot more strongly encourage you to attend!
