fireworks?

Around 1:30 this morning I was woken by the sound of fireworks being shot off. They were being launched high into the air several blocks west of Davis Square, and I could clearly see them from my third-floor west-facing window on Day Street. Any idea what this was all about?

So I caught my mouse this morning. Cornered it in the pantry, plopped it into a brown bag and escorted it over to the play area on the street off Highland near the Brooks. It made a bee line for the electric blue house (sorry! ;-) that has been for sale for the last year.

So to recap....
...Borax didn't work
...live catch traps from ACE didn't work
...my silly cat refused to work

In the end it was a broom, a now discarded dish towel and my highly developed reaction time (honed recently through a stint of Halo). That mouse didn't stand a chance.

So if you see a rather plump mouse over by the swing set tell him it was not personal, just business...

The 'New Horizon' gift shop, at 407 Highland Ave., is closed. It now has newspaper covering the windows and door.
The jeweler next door is probably still in business, but it doesn't have much merchandise on display.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone walk into or out of either store.

Any of you good folks know anyone that does good plaster work? I don't know for certain, but I'm guessing that sheetrock is out of the question since we're talking about the walls of a curved staircase.

Point me in a direction?
