Stairhoppers
Aug. 14th, 2007 10:49 amPeople were asking in an old thread from last month about Stairhoppers, the Somerville moving company I hired for my August 3 move. The news is that they're a great firm with very reasonable rates, a terrific crew with a great attitude, and a very hands-on, get-the-job-done manager. They arrived at my house about 15 or 20 minutes after the stated arrival time of 9 a.m. but once they got there, they really got the work done in a timely, efficient manner. I couldn't be more pleased and I would definitely hire them again.
I believe their website is at http://www.stairhoppers.com. The manager's name is Mona.

Stupid BSC question
Aug. 14th, 2007 11:19 am I can't find this on their site at all, hence asking here(and yes, it probably IS a stupid question); does anybody know if the Boston Sports Club in Davis is going to have a pool? I want to join a gym, but I'd love to find one with a pool.
Our regular rehearsal space is completely booked for the week after our auditions for "Tomes of Terror", our Halloween radio show, so we're looking for a space that will hold 25-30 people for our initial read-through. Is there somewhere in the Davis Square area that would be available for about 3 hours some night the week of August 27th that would be either 1) free, 2) cheap or 3) willing to exchange the space for an ad in our program?
Thoughts?

Want to Compost?
Aug. 14th, 2007 03:12 pmIs anyone out there in need of compostables?
I realize this is an odd thing to offer, but I'm vegan and have a voluminous farm share so the bulk of my trash is compostable. I do not have a bin/pile and my liberal guilt over usable stuff going to waste is getting to me, so I thought it might be possible for somebody else to use it. Maybe arrange a pick-up/drop-off once a week or so? No orts, just the "clean" stuff generated during food prep.
When I volunteered at Kripalu a couple of years ago, they'd collect the peels, cores, and such from veggie prep to feed local livestock, so this sort of thing isn't unprecedented, anyway.
And to make this post more generally useful: For folks who don't know, the City of Somerville offers residents the Earth Machine composter for $25.

Where to hit some balls (golf)?
Aug. 14th, 2007 03:29 pmLooking for a place nearby (and cheap preferably) to hit some balls. Any suggestions? I probably won't have my own clubs if that somehow factors into the pricing equation.
Cleaning service
Aug. 14th, 2007 04:17 pmNot to get too yuppy here, but does anyone in the Community have a cleaning service that they loooove? My work travel schedule is crazy and not getting less crazy and I don't want to spend my limited free-time washing the kitchen floor and scrubbing the tub. I am looking for a one-time big clean and regular (monthly?) maintenance. The rest of the time I can keep it tidy myself. Thanks in advance for any recs.
