Article from today's Globe about Kickass Cupcakes
I'm sad to say I haven't managed to get in there yet. I pass by it every evening on my commute home, but since I'm generally in a rush to pick up my son from preschool by 5:30 closing time, I can't stop. Maybe this weekend? I loooove a good cupcake.

Guitar Teachers?
Sep. 26th, 2007 12:37 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
I'm interested in picking up the guitar this winter and am looking for recommendations for a teacher. I'm a beginner with no experience with other instruments. There are lots of flyers around town and postings on Craigslist, but I need some recommendations. I'd prefer 1:1 teaching or at most a very small group (3) to a class.

Hair cuts for men?
I usually cut my own hair in my bathroom with an electric trimmer, and I'm ok with that.
But... I'm getting married shortly, and I need a place to get a nice haircut.
I've gotten recommendations for places in back bay and south boston, but that's a haul. Anyone have suggestions for a swank mens haircuttery in the general Camberville area?
Thanks for any advice!
Edit:
Ended up at Salon Cu with Umberto.
The guys are Boston-area natives, super-friendly, and gave me not only a great haircut but really good advice on how to deal with it best for wedding photos and what-not.
I'll definitely be back there someday, and highly recommend them. Friendliest customer-service I've had since moving to Boston.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a physical therapist that you have worked with personally? The orthopedic doctor I met with this morning said I can go by word of mouth or use the yellow pages but I figure word of mouth is better :) I will be getting knee therapy if that matters. I dont mind traveling a little north if needed! Thank you.
remotivating housecleaners?

Not exactly D^2 but since I live here....
I have had a Brazilian couple coming in every other week to do housecleaning for the last couple of years. Most of the time I am not here so I leave a key, etc. The deal is/was two hours for $60 (= $15./hr per person). They don't speak much English so it's been a little dodgey at times communicating what they should do and all that. (I think their English gets worse when I have asked them to do more... ;-) I don't even know if they put in the two hours or not.
The thing is I have been growing more discontent with what they do but because of inertia and whatever I haven't put any effort into either trying to re-motivate them or finding someone else.
So here's the questions:
-Is it typical that housecleaners get bored over time and just race through doing the bare minimum?
-Is it unreasonable for me to expect them to do more than the basics - (i.e. that if the place isn't trashed and there is time they will find things to do)
I guess I am wondering what is reasonable to expect.

This female cat is about 9-12 months old. Looks like someone took good care of her. She was left in the City kennels last Saturday (9/22/07) with NO info whatsoever. If anyone recognizes her please call Somerville Animal Control-617-625-6600 or email aterrio@ci.somerville.ma.us.
On another note, if no one claims her she will be spayed, brought up to date on her vaccinations and put up for adoption. She is a very sweet cat, loves to be around people. If anyone is interested in adopting her, please contact Somerville Animal Control about how to fill out an application. *A reasonable adoption fee applies.
Thank You!

Yes, I know the Goodwill is just down the way, but hear me out.
This li'l 1998 Aiwa three-CD changer, dual cassette, AM/FM, aux. port shelf unit is broken in two ways: the CD changer plays CDs not at all (well, the occasional), and the buttons and dials on the unit itself don't work so hot. But! But but but! Dual cassette and radio both fully functional, unit gets "real loud," speakers not at all fried (shockingly!), remote with battery included, super bass boost, three-setting "equalizer," and free to a good home.
First commented first served. You must pick up from my Teele Square locale after 6:00 PM Thursday or before 10:00 AM Friday. Priced to move, as in, no price at all.
Thank you for your kind attention, and have a good night.
