From today's Tufts student paper:

Public masturbation a persistent problem at Tisch Library

Let this be a warning to you. Public masturbation is only appropriate during the Naked Quad Run.

Hello All,

I thought I'd list some upcoming ResiStat meetings that may be coming to your neighborhood or demographic group. These are opportunities for Somerville Residents to bring questions and feedback directly to City staff.  Even if there isn't one for you, maybe you have a friend or relative who might be interested. Also, there are a few more meetings I'm hoping to schedule for March which aren't on this list. The most current meeting list, along with a description of the ResiStat program, neighborhood maps, etc., is always listed here.

Howdy Davis Square,

With the help of Somerville Community Access TV, I produce an occasional television show and podcast called The Gameshelf, about unusual games of various sorts. I'm hoping to make another three or four episodes this year, and I'm looking to expand my talent pool outside of just the local gamers I happen to already know. I've published a casting call page on the show's website describing who I'm looking for and how they can contact me.

As that page notes, the show's current format involves interleaving the hosts discussing a game with clips of folks playing it. We usually film these clips at the SCAT studio in Union Square, and their production is seldom more complicated than sitting the game-players down and pointing cameras at them while they play and chat. You can get an idea of the final output by watching either of our most recent couple of episodes, or watching excerpts posted on YouTube, such as our reviews of Citadels or Werewolf.

If it sounds interesting to you, please email me as per instructions on the casting call page, and feel free to pass that link along to others as well. Thanks!

in the "no good deed goes un-punished" column: in the the act of committing a Good Deed for someone else, i wound up with a pair of used cherry vanities taking up space in my attic.  "too good to throw away !".  right, but we can't use them in our house and now the attic is too full to move around in.

can you use them ?

[EDIT: apparently someone can use them, they've been spoken for.]

this is a very crafty town, maybe someone around here needs an 8-shaft loom ?  i'd love to sell the one lurking in my attic.

[EDIT: loom has been unloaded, thanks to everyone who showed interest !]

Isn't there a law that says a landlord cannot enter your apartment without your permission unless he smells gas or something?

I just got an email from my landlord letting me know he replaced all the batteries in the smoke alarms and then he let me know some stuff he needs to fix. He never let me know he was going in my apartment before hand. I am not aware of when he does his annual replacing of batteries... He lives on the first floor. Because he lives in the house itself, does that make a difference?

Thank you.

(Landlordy),

I'm all set. I don't need to see you tonight.

I just want to thank you for taking care of the batteries for me. Could you let me know in advance next time though? I'd feel better if I had a chance to clean up a bit. I'm a little horrified at what you possibly witnessed. I didn't even make my bed this morning!

Thanks,
(me)

I understand. Of course I can let you know in the future, it's just that I had a half day (for other reasons) and realized that I had a window of time to take care of it.
Besides, your place wasn't that bad, believe me! You should see how our tenants that we're evicting live! No worries.

RESOLVED!

Thank you all so much for your great insights. MUCH appreciated!

Take care,
Abby
