I signed a lease for an apartment in the heart of davis square and it's on the first floor. I'm a little worried about security because of being on the first floor with the windows being accessible and all. Should I even be worried about this?

It is with very mixed emotions that I will be leaving Davis Square and moving to lovely, bucolic Millbury this weekend.

I've got three largish pieces of furniture (two dressers and a sleeper sofa) that I've got to got out to the trash holding area behind my building either Thursday or Friday. I'm hoping that a couple of you with younger and stronger backs than mine would be willing to perform the required lugging. I have 2 RedBones gift certificates to offer in exchange for the help.

Hi everyone,
I know this is in Central but I thought it was worthy of a post to Davis Square.  Quills is opening this weekend (through next weekend) at the YMCA Durrell Theatre in Central Square.  Tickets are $15 online and $20 at the door.  It should be a great show!  Note, it's not appropriate for children as there is nudity.

More info:
http://www.badhabitproductions.org/shows/season/quills.html

Also, there will be an Art and Poetry Exhibition (Sinners, Saints, and Censorship) held in the lobby and balcony for 30 minutes prior to each performance.  I helped curate the show, and there are some really great pieces!

Thanks!

I don't know who's really able to attend a mid-day weekday performance, but if you are, check this out:

Wednesday, July 28th @ 1pm

Join us for a special FREE mid-day performance and demonstration on Behind the Mask Studio and Theatre's new outdoor stage.

Slapstick blasphemy and cannibalism!

Somerville-based mime, commedia dell'arte performer, and playwright Ian Thal presents his one act-play Arlecchino Am Ravenous, a story of the impishly lustful Arlecchino, who, so driven mad by hunger has a blasphemous theophany during which he storms heaven and hell in search of a meal gaining not a glimmer of spiritual enlightenment in the process.

About Ian Thal ... )

Behind the Mask Studio and Theatre was founded by master maskmaker, Eric Bornstein and is the area's premier mask making studio. It is located at
6 Campbell Park Place, Davis Square, Somerville, MA
(Enter through the driveway.)

Hey everybody. I have a room opening up that we need to fill ASAP as my friend backed out of moving in. It's a cozy, newly carpeted room in a newly renovated large apartment on Paulina Street, about five minutes walk to Davis.  Free laundry in the unit, not in a basement or anything, and what's best, you get your own porch! How cool is that? A link to the Craigslist ad is below. Feel free to pass this on!

Has anyone been to the swimming pool in Foss Park in Winter Hill? I saw it for the first time while walking Broadway for this past weekend's SomerStreets festival. It was overflowing with kids to the point I didn't want to go near it, but it was the prime time for that, since it was a weekend day right around noon. Is it always stuffed with children? Is it cleaned up well at all?

DCR has only a little bit of information on it:
Latta Brothers Memorial Swimming and Wading Pool, McGrath Highway, (617) 666-9236
Hours of Operation: 11am to 7pm
Learn to Swim 10am to 11:30am M-F
