After a couple years as a Somervillian, I've moved to the magical land of Cambridge, but still near Davis Square. I was a relatively happy RCN customer, and am now a Comcast customer who is pleased with reliability and speeds, but is annoyed by 250gb/month bandwidth usage limits and price (not interested in Comcast's TV offerings or various other bundles).

I just learned that Earthlink has cable Internet service (re-sold Comcast service?) and wondered if anyone has experience with them? I couldn't find old relevant threads here nor really anything on DSLreports or elsewhere, would appreciate any information. Earthlink advertises it as a 6.0Mbps cable connection.

*edit*
I forgot to mention, I'd happily consider other high-speed options, if people have them.

I'm a member of the bikepath community garden and lately we've been having some issues with vandalism. In fact some of you may have noticed the garden gate(which is always locked) was kicked in as of this morning. We have reported this to the police but I was wondering if anyone in the community may have witnessed anything or if anyone has suggestions. I really think the garden is a great part of davis but it's definitely frustrating that a few people are willfully destroying everyone's hard work.

Thought I'd share a hilarious article in the Boston Herald on Cambridge's new parking tickets, illustrated with suggested yoga poses.

I think the best bit is the last paragraph:

"Somerville has a little less of a zen yoga vibe," said city spokesman Michael Meehan. "I don't think we'd be having our parking attendants doing yoga poses ... We're open to putting local art on all sorts of materials. Somerville is home to more artists per capita than any other city in New England. But we're not going to be switching over to a division of Tantra & Parking."

I remember some recent discussion about Blues dancing here, so wanted to point out to the curious (or addicted) that Artisan's Asylum is organizing a one-shot introductory Blues dancing class on Saturday in Union Square, ending early enough for everyone to go to What the Fluff?

Description:

You do not have two left feet.

You can, in fact, hear the beat.

It is possible for you to have a really good time on the dance floor.

Come challenge all of your assumptions about dancing at Dancing for Geeks, a series of dance lessons (three 1-hour lessons with 15 minute breaks in between) specifically designed to teach people who think they can't dance. Yes - this workshop is for you. We promise it's easy to learn if you have the right teachers, and we promise it's not painful!

Gui Cavalcanti and Jenn Martinez will be teaching the class how to Blues dance, an older form of partner dancing that was popular alongside swing dancing in the early to mid 1900s that has been undergoing a revolution in the past few years. Blues dancing is a very free form, improvisational dance form with few basic steps and a bunch of rules of thumb that can easily broken down into fundamental physical principles. Gui and Jenn have developed an entire curriculum around teaching those physical principles (in fact, the name of their dance studio is Free Body Studios... bonus points if you get the reference), and teaching people to dance who otherwise might have assumed they couldn't.

After the dance, students will be well prepared to attend Blues Cafe that night, a monthly Blues and swing dance that often features live music.

Anyone interested in a $50 Groupon to Charles River Canoe & Kayak? Expiration is Oct 11. Valid for rentals only. It's good for their 4 locations, including the one in Cambridge. Cost me $25. Anyone want it for $20?

is coming soon to the former Poor Little Rich Girl space, according to a sign posted in the window. We last had this store in Davis Square in 2006.

I am in need of a pro bono lawyer/legal clinic because of a tuition dispute with my university.  Thanks to the paucity of law schools here, I have several options. Has anyone had a positive (or negative) experience with any of the pro bono clinics?  Reccomendations? I checked the memories and didn't see anything.
