lyonesse.livejournal.comi'm a bsc member, and a trainer there wants to offer a class in "bodyweight manipulation" (which is sort of like baby parkour, involving balancing and jumping on things and such). i'm into it, but we need 2 more people to sign up for the class to actually happen. here is a writeup from the instructor:
*?Bodyweight Manipulation?* is a group-based training with the focus of
improving individual?s control of momentum and stability. First and foremost
the group will establish a baseline of bodyweight control (push-ups,
pull-ups, jumps, core stability, etc.) to improve each person?s
strength-to-weight ratio. Second, the group will be guided in learning
complex movement patterns to develop balance and generate momentum. Lastly,
the group will attempt to practice high-intensity dynamic movements that
challenge both their strength and control. The group is heavily
parkour/free-running based in nature, with a strong emphasis on high
strength-to-weight ratio and bodyweight control.
if you're interested, let the desk folks at bsc (1 davis sq) know, so we can learn this stuff! i think it sounds like great fun :)
