The Farmers' Market returns to the Armory this weekend and next, but it will be on SUNDAY rather than Saturday. It will be open from 10 am to 2 pm and will also include crafts vendors.

More details, including a list of participating vendors, are at Somerville Patch.

After the April 10 and 17 indoor markets, you'll have to wait a month for the final two, May 22 and 29.

I have a gift Card to New Egg (www.newegg.com) for $999.99, and am looking for someone who may be interested in buying it from me for a reasonable price.

Starting tonight, Theatre on Fire is presenting Blackadder II: Live, all six episodes of the second season of Blackadder, presented on stage for the first time. There are two shows running in repertory. Part One comprises the episodes Bells, Head, and Potato, while Part Two comprises Money, Beer, and Chains.

The show opens tonight, Friday, April 8, and runs through April 23. This weekend we have Part One on Friday, and Part Two on Saturday. The following two weeks we do one of the parts each night Wed-Friday, then do BOTH of 'em on Saturday. You can see one part, or both parts. There's not really a whole lot of character development, so seeing 'em out of order shouldn't really be an issue. Or you can just see one, but then you'd be missing half the fun.

Note that it's a pretty small theater and a very popular show. Tickets are selling like hot cakes. In fact, sales of hot cakes are languishing as Boston-area consumers are spending their hot-cakes-buying-dollars on Blackadder tickets instead. So if you want to see the show, I recommend buying your tickets early, and often!

The show is at Charlestown Working Theatre, near Sullivan Square, accessible from Davis by both the 89 and 90 bus routes, which stop at the busway near the T. And it's got an actual Davis Square resident playing Nursie!

((Mods: If this is too far flung, I apologize, and will delete.))

A couple days ago, I was exiting the Porter Exchange building (1815 Mass Ave, in the Porter Square area) and a car pulled out from the curb and drove off. As it did, an envelope fell off of the top of it.

The car was gone before I got a chance to get a license plate, or any details, but I have the envelope, and I'd like to return it to its owner if it's important. I haven't opened it yet. (though will if that seems necessary).

It's a brown envelope, about six inches by eight inches, and feels like it has some sort of cardstock or photostock inside. The outside says "From: Vedaste To: David Ellis"

If you are David Ellis or Vedaste, get in touch with me through comments here, please!

(And yes, I tried Facebook. There are a _lot_ of David Ellis's, and I'm not having any luck narrowing down to the ones I should even try messaging)

I just got this e-mail from Brandon Wilson of the Somerville Historic Preservation Commission and thought it would be of interest here. (If the drill involves any gunfire, this post should head off any "what was that?" posts.)

Subject: Muster and Drill by Charlestown Militia, Gardner's Regiment this Sun. 1-3:30pm at Nathan Tufts Park!

Heads Up All!

Just to let you know, we have arranged for a local militia group to hold their muster and drill practice right here in Somerville this Sunday, at a particularly appropriate spot, the Nathan Tufts Park. This is the location of the original Powderhouse where the colonists' and British gunpowder was stored and raided in 1775, setting off the sparks that ultimately led to the American Revolution! Remember that Somerville was originally a part of Charlestown in the 1700's. They plan to practice starting at 1pm, likely near to the Powderhouse, off Liberty Ave. and Powderhouse Terrace.

Following the practice, members of the company, dressed in garb and equipped appropriate to the Revolutionary period, will be available to explain their actions, as well as the significance of this area to the founding of our nation, just in case you want to refresh your history or share it with your younger ones!
