I've been going here for treatments for the past 3 months or so, and I've been very happy with them--their sliding scale means that initial appointments (in which they take your medical history, etc.) are $35-$55, and subsequent appointments are $20-$40; you decide how much you can afford to pay. In addition, they also have many specials, and one in particular that I've appreciated has been the one for the unemployed; between 10-4 M-F, an appointment is only $10. They also sell various Chinese herbs, both commercially available formulas and combinations of herbs prescribed for a specific individual.
(I found about about this place through Somerville Patch, of all things; they held an open house in late June that was in Patch's events listing, and since I was catsitting for a friend in the neighborhood, I decided to check it out and get a free treatment while I was at it. I was a complete wreck at that time, especially emotionally, but after telling Justine my tale of woe and spending an hour resting in a recliner while stuck full of needles, I felt SO MUCH BETTER--it truly was a night-and-day difference for me, and I've been a fan, and a happy client, ever since.)
Can anyone recommend an acupuncturist?
Sep. 8th, 2010 10:48 amI'm a long time reader, first time poster. I checked the acupuncture tag, but there wasn't much recent. I'm looking for some acupuncturist recommendations. I don't have anything super serious beyond some shoulder issues. I just recently tried someone whom I like, but want to explore further and experience different practices. Any help is greatly appreciated!

You may remember me from a few months ago, looking for a PCP. I found one I like, but she's at Harvard Vanguard, and so far the specialists there = not so much.
So I'm wondering, does anybody know of a gastroenterologist in the area to help me out with a chronic inflammation/nausea/acid reflux problem? I'd like to find someone who won't just put me on a bunch of pills, but also help me fix my diet and such so that I know what to eat and what not to eat in order to temper the condition.
I'm debating just going to a nutritionist (rec's are welcome!), but I wonder if I can find a doctor who sort of does both (i.e., procedures, prescriptions, etc., but also concerned about nutrition, etc.)??
Thanks in advance for any suggestions, and I hope I get to come a meet up sometime soon!

same-day allergy help
Dec. 4th, 2008 12:54 pmI posted here once before when I had bad allergies, and I got a great recommendation for Somerville Family Health. They were helpful at the time, but I just went back for a really intense allergy attack I'm experiencing now, and my doctor couldn't do anything for me and didn't want to give a cortisone shot.
People seem to like Dr. Gurka, and I'll call his office when they re-open for the afternoon and try to get on as a patient. While I know I need to really work with an allergist to figure out what's up (and probably start something like shots that take a while to build up), I'm miserable and barely functional and need some sort of immediate relief.
Can anyone recommend someone who may be able to help me out very soon? I'm open to things like acupuncture (though I've never tried it specifically for allergies) in addition to allergists who work people in pretty quickly. I'm considering seeing if I can get a cortisone shot at the Mt. Auburn walk-in, but that's my only option that I know of so far.
Thanks in advance!

Harvard Square Acupuncture
Dec. 2nd, 2007 07:28 pmDoes anyone know about this place? I want to get a deep tissue massage and am venturing out of the davis square neighborhood as a trip to massage therapy works ended in me being poked repeatedly in the back at random (not really worth the money). Any other closer suggestions would be appreciated as well.....
Acupuncturist

Mar. 7th, 2006 10:10 amAcupuncturists with reasonable rates would also be appreciated, as I'm living on a grad student budget and I don't think insurance will help cover any of the costs.
Thank you!
