The Cambridge Police Department will hold a community meeting on Friday evening, 6-8 pm, at the Peabody School, 70 Rindge Avenue. The meeting will discuss recent shootings and other crimes in the North Cambridge neighborhood. This may interest Davis-area folk who live in Cambridge, especially on the other side of Mass. Ave.

Here's the e-mail I got from Craig Kelley, via the Porter Square Neighbors mailing list: Click for full meeting announcement )

Airplane noise is up 3X in Davis area this year. This is confirmed by Somerville Transportation Equity Partnership (STEP) and our mayor. You may or may not have read the articles in the news. Both STEP and our mayor have encouraged people who are annoyed by the noise, to call this number and complain:

(617) 561-3333

Here is some more info:

The more people that call and complain the better chance we have in getting a reduction in overhead flights (so we're told).

If you don't care about the increase, or don't care about planes flying by every 40 seconds, please read all of the witty responses below instead.

I apologize if this has been covered before (I did do a cursory look through the dining and restaurants tags), but are there places in Davis Sq that offer a good happy hour with discounted DRINKS?  I know Sagra does 1/2 off appetizers.  Cambridge suggestions welcome too.  Thank you!

884 Broadway

So, I'm wondering what this place is, it looks like it used to be a place the hipsters from the 40's and 50's danced all night long, but now it looks like it's been abandoned and falling apart.  Kinda looks like a speakeasy or something, could be a great restaurant if fixed up.  Anyone know what this place is?
