This store is awesome. I'm very happy with the quality of merchandise and I wish them much success in Davis Square.
I bought some amazing jewelry, a Davis Square shirt, a box of almond soaps, a "Lucky Pennies" sign for my back entry and a few other things.

Just like any new business, it takes time to work out the kinks, house a good inventory and find a balance of creating the vision that is in harmony and compatible with the neighborhood and the market. And so far, they're doing a great job. I'm looking forward to popping in on a regular basis. They are friendly and helpful, and I'm going back!

And even if you're not in the market for buying something, you have to check out the switch plate on the wall to the left as you come in the door. It's the coolest copper design. It's official, I'm in love.

Based on your review I decided to actually drop in on my way to Brooks. I got a great teapot and tea I am dying to try out.

Wow...I am used to this kind of drama on other communities and messageboards. :-)

Anyway...I actually had no idea about this place and will check it out. I like stores like this and since i make jewelry...I may see if they take consignment work if it looks like a good fit.

Lucious, wow... after re-reading your post I would have to say that your "current mood" was closer to orgasmic. There is happy and then there is HAPPY and then there is where your mood seems to be when entering that store. Yikes.

I've also enjoyed the store -- been in it several times now, and been very happy with my purchases (jewelry, Davis Square t-shirt). Every time I wear the shirt or a pair of the earrings I get compliments and "Where did you buy that?" questions.

Sorry for all the hassling you just underwent. I can see why people were initially suspicious and asked the question -- but what has followed, the elaborate defensive justifications of why it was clearly totally reasonable to question and harass a new-ish poster and in fact she should be lectured because she had no right to post and not expect to get harrassed for having violated the Invisible Rules of teh Intarweb!!! and thus it is obviously her own fault and certainly nobody owes her an apology for unintentional rudeness or anything like that &etc., speaks for itself in its absurdity. d_s not always like this -- but no forum is ever completely free of commentroversy, alas. Ah well.

So let me get this straight.....there are comments on this site all the time telling us that this business or that business is good or bad. In the last few days there were testimonials about Taipei Tokyo and Al Fresca, to name a few, in fact, I've seen other comments about D2. So is it OK to post these types of comments as long as you are a 'long time' member of this community? If so, what is the appropriate length of time as a member before you can post about a new business? Have these rules been documented somewhere so that unsuspecting newcomers will know what they are?
Since the owner of D2 is a friend of a friend, I'm pretty sure that the 'offender' is not connected to the store. I also cannot believe the amount of cynicism, paranoia, and parochialism on this site. I would have thought that the people who post here were much more inclusive and welcoming........give me a townie any day, I guess!!
